What is the frenzy about ICS??...I just don't see it

The biggest news with ICS is that it's the first version that combines tablet OS and smartphone OS into one. Plus i've heard that ICS will be more developer friendly when scaling across multiple devices. If so, this could be huge as it would attract devs to the platform.

I'm trying to understand what all the frenzy and almost oragsmic drooling about ICS is??... I mean I could understand if it's bringing us spectacular differences, but come on now, what is exactly so great about all the ICS knockoffs, let alone the ICS itself...

Pretty much it redifines Android. Before, Android was fragmented and stock was ugly. Now you get multitasking, you get true performance, and customization. Gone are the days where you have 2 million features but only 200 actually work well. Now it'll be buttery smooth, innovation. Developer friendly is a plus too.

Your first post was perfect... but your second post was condescending in useless.... but maybe I should of mentioned more so the frenzy that's popping up... and not with the ICs OS itself

Gotcha, understand now. And apologize for being short with my other answer. The sudden frenzy probably is coming with the surge for the release of the Nexus. I think one is fueling the fire of the other back and forth, really amping it up. Like someone else mentioned, I think the merging of the OS is going to be the other big factor. It's finally bringing the Android system together and mainstreaming it, for lack of a better word. Reducing the fractured OS it has been suffering for so long.

But overall, I just thing the Nexus release amp up and the ICS release on it are fueling each other at an increased pace with how long everyone has been waiting for both.

I'm sorry overreacting also... thanks for the good info,

I posted a video for you from the keynote speech, it's pretty in depth

Thanks TP, some good info in there.... listened to most of it and there is indeed some cool features being added to Android with ICS. I really hadn't looked to much into it since there were no actual ROMs based off of real ICS base, but I already like this thread since I atleast decided to take a longer look at the OS. Now to look more into what technology is in ICS that will better utilize all cores of any multicore processors....I'm very curious now...

That being said, again I should have made it more clear that I was more referencing the frenzy about all the ICS threads that were popping up, they are almost all based off of ICS themes, and being that I looked into making one myself I was scratching my head as to what people were all in a hoopla about....not about the ICS OS itself, which when it comes out I'm sure I'll get a better idea of just what it can do, or can't do as good as claimed...afterall look at the Bionic, which I really like, but 'machine that rules all other machines' just seems tacky...lol
