Sounds like you're running some kind of task killer app and you are getting alerts of apps to kill?

I thought that also.. I dont know, just now it said 3, and I had 2 new email, I clicked the mail notification in the drop down and it dissapeared. But it also went down when I turned off apps, so Im not sure exactly what it is yet..

Did you download a task killer app?

If yes, you may want to go into the settings and see what the settings are within the app.

Yep..thats exactly it, when I turn off the ATK notification/Status bar icon, the # icon dissapears too. But I still dont know exactly the # means, as is goes down with proccesses, apps and email lol

It # goes down with Applications/Processes that you shut down. I don't use task killer apps but I'm assuming there is a setting in the notifications that alerts you when certain apps are running.

I can't really help you out beyond that because I'm not familiar with it but if you poke around in the task killer settings you should find the answer.
