ROM Manager is a great tool for those of us who aren't content with just one rom. Right now I have 7 separate backups of roms. Some are old versions that I backed up before flashing the new version of a rom, some are different color themes (I have blue and cyan kangerade, clean black and black ice for the TC roms, etc).
I used sprecovery for a while, and still make backups under that in case i get another hiccup from clockworkmod and have to push sprecovery.
My favorite thing about rom manager is that you don't have to rename anything to update.zip and you can flash from any folder (as long as there aren't spaces in the file/folder names). I got sick of renaming everything to update.zip.
