Which has a better camera- the Inc or the X?

I have the incredible and my boyfriend has the X. He is a super techie and researched everything like crazy before choosing, and he went with the X exclusively for its camera...it can take HD video and comes stock with a panorama feature, neither of which does the Inc do. I just mention those two because those are the two things he and I use the most on his phone and the two things I am most jealous of as an Inc owner.

I hate my phones camera design because its so exposed---i put a protector over the lens which makes the pictures a bit blurry, but it also keeps the lens from being ruined permanently, which is pretty inevitable in my opinion with its ridiculous design.

I notice a huge difference in his camera when filming...its really amazing. Everything is so clear. The film is better than my own vision!

Also take the size into consideration---are you a guy with big hands? or a girl with smaller hands? or some kind of mix of the two? Mine fits well in my hand, while the X would have been totally impractical for me because of its size, but it fits my bf perfectly.

Some things to consider. But my opinion is that the Inc is awesome, but the camera on the X was a tie breaker for my boyfriend, and I trust my bf and all his research.

My gosh, thanks for all the help guys. I'm sorry if I seem a little shell shocked, but after belonging to other various technology communities before, I am amazed that Droidforums is so polite and helpful, haha.

You can't go wrong with either phone. The two factors I would say you need to concentrate are 1)the physical size of the phones and 2)whether you like Motoblur or Sense better. Those are the biggest differences.

Yeah, the main problem is I like the hardware better on the X, but I like Sense better than Motoblur :icon_eek:

So I'm looking for any reason to tip the scale either way.

There is also one other consideration I forgot to mention. The Bootloader. The X has it, the Inc does not. If you are going to be rooting, that can come into play. The Bootloader can lock down your phone if rooted wrong and make it very easy for Motorola to see what happened to your phone. Also has the potential to lock your phone down remotely from VZW themselves. The Inc doesn't have that Bootloader.

That might help you some.

They both have good cameras. If one had to choose, it would be a hard choice for the average consumer. To me anyway.

Check out some threads in the X and Inc sections at this site for pictures:

Amazing shots from both cameras. The panorama feature on the X is nice....I havent tried it yet.

I had both the X and the Inc. I returned the X.

regardless of what any of the reviewers have written, though the panoramic view was an excellent option, the fact was for my two examples, the Incredible produced much, not slightly, much sharper photos for exactly the same settings regardless of what I was shooting.

I did not find any difficulty with the Inc focus as some posters have. There was nothing wrong with my X - by itself it took excellent photos. Compared to the Incredible - not as sharp.

The X has some features that are far better than the Inc - BT voice dialing, much better phone quality and, of course bigger brighter, better screen.

But, the OP asked a simple question and the simple answer based upon my own side-by-side comparison is that the Incredible takes and produces better photos. Yes, anyone could have even better photos from a dedicated camera - but I dont always carry a dedicated camera and always carry my phone. When my daughter caught her first fish - the camera was in the car while the phone was on my hip. Phone cameras matter to parents.

BTW - I paid full price for both the X and the Inc - so returning one vs. the other was a matter of which I liked better.

My girlfriend has the X and I have the incredible. Both of us agree that the incredible's shots look better. That is, when you actually focus the camera well enough for it to take a great shot :P. Any quick movement and the picture is garbage, you really have to stand still.

But yeah. Inc camera > X camera
