Which Lapdock would you buy?

There are two different webtop apps for the Bionic and the Razr. That's why the Razr has the option and the Bionic does not. AFAIK, the lapdocks are just basic docking stations for your phone that enable the phone's webtop app to initialize. They're essentially dumb and have no built in software and/or storage. Unless I'm mistaken.

This is correct

Compatible, but not with certain features.

2011563[/URL]]I'm considering the 500 for my bionic. Are you saying that the 500 doesn't work with the Bionic? In particular, I'm interested in the vga port and front camera. I would like to use it for presentations with an lcd projector.

Until the Droid Bionic receives a WebTop update to make it function like the Droid RAZR, it will not be able to use the WebCam, VGA Output nor the Ethernet port. It still functions as a LapDock though. I think there is a separate HDMI to VGA adapter if you really want to connect your phone to a projector that you would use without the Lapdock.

I still find the LapDock 500 very useful and really enjoy using the SD Card slot for extra storage. We can only hope that they will update the software for the Bionic, so it can use all of the LapDock 500 hardware.

Two finger scrolling works on the trackpad, which is a great upgrade to the original Droid Bionic specific LapDock.

Just ordered one -- tried the 100 but the keyboard was too small. Here's hoping this one works!!

Yep, too good to pass. I pulled the trigger for my Bionic. If Moto stays on its path, then this lapdock should be usable for future smartphones. So, I hope it will be a good investment.

Just purchased 500 for $161 out the door shipped on Verizon. Will update with details. Now that this is out and more popular, hopefully someone works on full compatibility for Bionic with 500.

Just some quick thoughts on my Lapdock 100. I finally broke it in while traveling this past week. Very pleased with it. I test drove it with my then Active Bionic and my wife's Droid Razr Maxx. The Droid Bionic fits much better in the provided slot then the Droid Razr Maxx. It has to do with the tethering cable for the lapdock. Frankly it's too short for the Droid Razr Maxx, but just right for the Bionic. I placed the Bionic with the screen facing out into the slot with the cable twisted around. This worked well. Ironically the Droid Razr Maxx which the lapdocks are billed for is much more clumsy because the micro hdmi and micro usb connections on the top of the Razr. You can always just leave it lying on the table tethered of course.

Now, I will say the Droid Razr Maxx has a MUCH superior webtop version then the Bionic's version. The Maxx is running Firefox 8.0 while the Bionic has Firefox 6.0. Additionally the customization features on the Maxx's version are far better, like the ability to auto hide your app bar at the bottom of the screen to maximize your screen size.

I was able to stream DivX movies from a 16GB thumb drive connected to the lapdock with the Bionic. This was a nice feature. You definitely want to use a travel sized mouse as it is a much better experience then the touchpad. I have not been able to disable the touchpad with the Bionic's version of webtop, so if someone else knows how please post.

I definitely like the keyboard. I was also able to print to my HP networked printer from the lapdock, once I was on my home network. The Bionic's webtop app has a nice printer utility to configure your printer.

Last item is that I've bought a micro hdmi extension cable and micro usb extension cable to see if I can get the Maxx to sit better in the lapdock. I bought these on Ebay so we'll see how it turns out.

Overall, very pleased with the Lapdock 100 and I can now see the future of the convergence of smartphones and laptops. Can't wait to see what Ubuntu does in the coming years. I would love to have a full blown version of Ubuntu on my smartphone.

I still have the original Bionic Lapdock and I love it... the other lapdocks have some cool features but they won't work till our webtop gets an upgrade... untill then...I'm stoked.. still have this thing in mint/perfect condition and I love sitting at dunkin donuts in the morning and seeing the looks on peoples faces when they notice the phone docked... always get questions and comments at least every day... Luckily I haven't got this message yet. When I look up my order number I have a FEDEX tracking number that says delivery on Wednesday the 29th (I ordered Firday afternoon, Pacific time) -- though the only entry on the tracking log is a pick-up in Philly so far. I hope the thing arrives -- also my credit card got hit on Friday afternoon.

I ordered saturday afternoon and received the email that advised it was out of stock today, it would seem this was a legitimate sale and not an error on Verizon's part to reduce the 500 so much so we don't need to worry. I can wait I guess at the price we are paying;)
