Which SPRecovery SBF for which phone?

I do forensic work, but I'm a little new still. Anyway I have been using Motocache1's Root Droid 1 - Regardless of OS. From what I gather there are different Recovery sbf's you can use, some seam specific to certain phones. SirPsychos' sbf appears to be universal for the most part. But I want to ask before I brick a phone, lol. Does each android model need its own sbf? And if it does, can someone make a thread where people can list the different ones and the phone models they work with? The same question goes for the root update for the superuser.apk, etc... also. Thank you very much.

About the .sbf those are motorola specific. As far as I know only the D1 had any recovery sbf's made for it. Sprecovery was only used on the D1 as well. All other devices use clockwork recovery.

end of line...

Ok ty. Well I guess my next question then would be since its forensic work I'm doing, does or is there a way to use clockwork without loosing the data stored on the phone? Oh and thats going on the assumption you can use it to gain root when you don't have access to the phone cause it has a password or pattern lock. Sry I'm not familiar with clockwork. And what about rz_recovery? I heard about that in a post on here comparing the two. Is it only for the droid 1 aswell? Thank you all for your help.

So...you are trying to gain access to the items on the phone by rooting them and pulling "evidence"?

I don't know that we can discuss such matters on here; even considering your position.

Especially since I don't think a forensic scientist would be asking how they can access a phone on a public board.

A little more information might be helpful. It really sounds like this is going to a bad place.

Thats fine Guidot. Thank you. I use other more forensic oriented sites also, I just posted here cause I had found Motocache1's thread so helpfull. I work for the government in a somewhat entry lvl position and am doing some research on my own concerning this subject. Beyond that I'm not sure how much more I can say. But thank you all, you have been very helpfull.
