Who carries their Droid naked? How has it held up (scratches)

Only had it since monday but it's naked... I saw the key scratch test on YouTube and decided if it can handle a key like that it can handle my pockets.

I am typically veyr safe with my devices so I hope to have a good run with this guy.

Naked since 11/06, no scratches, but I keep it in a holster.

I tried the Zagg, but could never put it on without hair or dust getting in between the Zagg and the screen. When it flipped out if my hand onto the floor, I gave up.

Naked since 9 Nov I'm a Police officer with no extra space on duty belt so I carry in shirt pocket and a Blue Ant Q1 earpiece and use the ear piece's voice speed dial without removing the phone from my pocket. Zero damages plus I prefer the contact with the glass screen but, I do carry the maximum insurance month to month.

I'm not that good with my toys so I have the Body Glove as well as the Zagg invisibesheild. Not real happy with either. Kind of a pain to take the BG off to put in my car mount. I didn't do such a great job putting on the Invisible sheild and so there are a couple of annoying bubbles that just haven't gone away. I drink a lot of coffee and have been in a bar or two with it, so I am hoping the combination of the two will help save it when the inevitable happens and I either drop it or spill something on it. No insurance btw.

My main concern is not the glass but the rubberized backing/corners of the phone. Will it start rubbing off or get marked up after repeated placing/sliding around on tabletops?

Not risking it with this phone. I bought the Verizon Shell & Holster combo and couldn't be happier with the case. Snaps in and out very easily and keeps the look of the phone close to original.

**Edit**

Also not using a screen protector and NO scratches so far..glass screen!

I've always carried my phones naked. Droid since launch day. iPhone 2G since launch day. Treo 650 for 3 years before that. The only mishap I had was when I closed a door on my Treo and I cracked my screen. It was in my jacket pocket. Won't ever do that again. $100 lesson learned. Replaced the screen myself and still till this day I won't bother with the skins or screen protectors on the phones. I just don't understand the need for them.

I do carry them around in holsters instead of in my pockets. I've had some small finish issues where they rub off, but for me a phone is a tool. Tools get used for functionality. It's not a collectors item. It certainly doesn't appreciate value over time, so I honestly don't care if its not in pristine condition.

I bought the Droid with screen protector pre-installed but took it off after 4 weeks since I couldn't keep it smear free. The Droid is one of two phones on the market with gorilla glass so nothing is going to scratch it except diamonds, sand, or hardened steel. I use a face-in holster so it should not be an issue - except if perhaps I let someone make a call who wears diamond earrings. The naked screen is easier to keep clean.

Battle ready...

I bought the Body Glove cover, and put a screen protector on it. Now, the Body Glove presented a problem in that I couldn't fully touch the top row of keys on the slide-out keyboard. The Verizon rep installed it for me. The other day I took the cover off to get the battery out and remove the SD card. When I went to re-install the BG, I discovered the Verizon 'expert' had put the top part of the cover on reversed. Body Glove actually designed the cover so you CAN reach the keys. Nice job there, "expert". So now I can reach that top row, but it's too late because I'm in love with the virtual keyboard. Oh well.

But the screen protector... I can't imagine not having one. I've got one on my Magellan Map Pro GPS, and swear by it. I'm swearing by it on my Droid too. I don't care WHAT they say about "Gorilla Glass". This is Murphy's Law lying in wait... :)

I have a amzer screen protector and use the silicone vzw case i bought on occasion. but for the most part im naked :D im not a fan of cases

I carry it naked...the screen is perfect, but I have 3 chips around it from dropping the phone twice. Once while drunk, lol. But oh well, that's what insurance is for right? If it gets too bad, smash the screen in and get a new one.

Used the hard plastic case for the first couple of weeks. Took it off to clean off lint that had accumulated under the plastic. Without the case the phone felt so much more sleek so did not put the case back on. I carry only in my pocket without any other objects in same pocket. I have a Verizon screen protector on it which I plan to replace with one from Ghost Armor although probably uneccessary. Now that the newness has worn off somewhat I'm less concerned about scratches. I'm sure I'll be replacing the phone in 2 years anyway.

I'm hard on my equipment - a cabinet maker who always has the phone lying around somewhere dangerous. So I've gone with the gel cover from VZW and like it. It gives me a very good grip. For an office user I guess naked would be fine.
