Who is going to...[Re-Revisited]-Vending.apk

a .9 guide is a stretchable png file.. take when you are typing a message for example, the more you type, the bigger the box gets. the guides tell it how to stretch and make sure it doesn't look like crap when its stretching. If you edit a .9.png, you need to put the guides back on using the draw9patch tool.

Thank you xkape, that makes sense....so know I gotta learn how to use the draw9patch tool? Man it never ends.:icon_eek:

its probably why most ROMs arent compilable unless you put stock images in them. Some 9png's you can edit and it has no effect. Like the keyboard, I edit all of those buttons and they are 9 png's but i don't put the guides back on and they look fine because they dont stretch really. Also, anything transparent wouldn't really need guides either since you can't see it.

basically tallica, on the right hand side and on the bottom, you make the guides all the way except the corner (if you had the tool open, this would make sense, trust me) and then on the left hand side and the top, put 1 dot in the middle.

The next step, however... i have no clue. I believe you need to resign the pngs and I was trying to use MotoDev to do that but it wasn't working. Hopefully, thebowers can chime in here today and give us all a lesson on resigning .9.png files and what programs to use to make it as easy as possible...lol :)

Right over my head. I'll download the tool and see what I can see.

My guess, someone else is going to have to do the .9.pngs for me, LOL

if you have adb, you have the tool already :) check in the androidsdk/tools folder. draw9patch.bat

lol.. trial and error man!

Honestly.. besides trial and error, what I did was look at Mbk's themes to see any 9png files he edited cause he doesn't use the tool either. I figure, if he edited it, i dont need the tool and if he didnt edit it, i need the tool.

On a completely unrelated note... Tallica..... I was just looking at the 8000 folders i have on my desktop looking for my chrome 9pngs i wanted to edit and I saw a folder named Tallicas Calendar. So, it just occured to me, I sort of left you hanging on that. Did you ever get it sorted out? Sorry about that man.

Not a problem. I did figure it out something in the Calendar was calling for the close_on_custom_something.png in the framework. So i just changed that .png to a transparent one and....Bingo!

one last thing before i find a TUT... When you say the guides, you mean the black bars on the sides of the image in the draw9patch tool, right? If so and if I was reading you right I have to make the guides go completely across the bottom and right sides, except the corners. and one dot in the middle on top and left side? That's it!?

well i updated the 2.2.7 market to fit the BnB themed one I posted before.ofc, credit goes to all the themers listed here before. here is a screen shot

btw, here is a quick explanations of the.9.pngs. http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/draw9patch.html, you dont necessarily want to make the guides go completely across the bottom and right sides, it all depends on how you want the image to be stretched.

also, if you edit the images when after you decompile the apk, you need to use .9.pngs with the guides exposed. if you edit the images after the apk is compiled, you can past in .9.pngs that do not have the guides exposed. like if you were to grab the images from your last themed market without decompileing it, you can just copy and paste them into your new themed market if its already compiled. or you can decompile your old ones, and then those images should have the guides exposed and you can copy and paste those to the decompiled new market app.

well i hope that makes sense, im not the best at explaining things at times.
