Wait, close, or report?

IMO, if you are behind the wheel, you are responsible. Wait till some smart DEV roots the car.. Then ask who is responsible...

Won't have to ask. That's pretty black and white.

Automakers - and pretty much any equipment manufacturer - have, over and over, been liable for their standard equipment working as properly intended. A manufacturer defect causing self-drive to malfunction would be no different than a steering or braking failure on a standard vehicle.

Nevermind the argument about the challenge of adjusting to a car that's already reacting. Consider that people who may have very little real driving experience to begin with may have gone years without driving - and you want people with the driving skills of a 16-yr old taking control to avoid an accident?
