Who plans on picking up the Moto Z Force?

Would like some feedback on the Moto Z Force, as opposed to the Turbo 2 and the Maxx 2. Switching to Verizon tomorrow, and i've decided on one of the Moto phones. Can these phones be rooted? Thanks for any help.:p

I haven't used the Turbo 2 much, only used it while setting it up for the other half... Here are some pics of it side by side. The Moto Z Force has the battery mod on while the Turbo 2 is in the shell case. With the battery mod, the Z Force has quite a bit more battery life but without the battery mod, I believe the Turbo 2 has a tad larger battery. The Turbo 2 has built in wireless charging, although with the Verizon branded wireless charging stand and even others that we have in the house, it seems to struggle charging wirelessly with the case attached. Both phones have turbo charging.

I don't have the Droid Z...yet. I do have 2 Turbo 2's. If you can afford the extra $$ I would recommend either the Z Force or the Turbo over the Z and the Maxx 2. Only because of the Shattershield screen; this new Shattershield technology is well worth the extra $$ in my opinion. Just be advised...it's a 5 layer design and the outer layer is a thick plastic protector. The screen will not shatter (ever) but it will scratch easily. Invest in a good quality glass screen protector. I don't know if any of them can be rooted. I have never been into rooting phones; just don't have the time for it. I believe that even if you can root them, you cannot unlock the bootloader. All of the phones you listed run very close to stock, vanilla Android. The days of a heavy Moto Blur UI are long gone; Moto runs a near stock Android UI, with a few extra options in their Moto App (Driving Mode, etc.). The Turbo 2 was released in 2015 and the Z series is this year's model. Both currently have Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the current version of Android. The Z series will almost definitely receive Android N whenever it is released. The Turbo 2...it's hard to say if it will receive Android N or not (my guess is probably not). Another thing to know is that both are Verizon exclusive phones, so Verizon controls the software updates. If you really like the fastest, most current updates you will not get that with any Verizon branded Droid phone. I have not had any wireless charging issues with my Turbo 2, but I use a very thin TPU case to show off the custom Ballistic Nylon. The Turbo 2 can be customized on the Moto Maker website with a lot of different color choices, and different back materials like leather, ballistic nylon and wood. But it does not have Moto Mod options. The new Droid Z series does not have all of the Moto Maker color / material options but the magnetic snap-on Moto Mods make it pretty awesome!

Hope that helps answer some basic questions. :D

Do the droid phones have, or will they get wifi calling?:p

The Turbo 2 does not have WiFi calling. I am pleasantly surprised to learn from @smalltowngirl13 that the Droid Z does have it. It was rumored that Verizon was not going to allow their Droid brand to have WiFi calling, guess that rumor was false. I doubt the Turbo 2 will get WiFi calling though, since it is "last year's Droid" at this point.

One other thing, if you are not familiar with Verizon's newer phones and / or Droids. With newer Verizon phones, you have to enable Advanced Calling to be able to use data while on a call. They only have one antenna enabled and the Advanced Calling feature allows simultaneous voice & data. But...you need a good 4G signal for Advanced Calling to work good. If you live in a week 4G area, you may not be able to use Advanced Calling and have simultaneous voice & data. Also, if you start a call on 4G and move into a 3G area that call will drop, Advanced Calling will only work on a 4G LTE signal. Just other things to know & think about if you are new to Verizon and their newer phones. :D

OK. I think that it will probably be the Droid Moto Z Force, because of the wifi calling. I guess that the Force will be with me. Now, i'll need a Dark Side rom to go with it. Thanks for your help.:p

You know they would probably give you $300 for the Turbo 2 if you have it paid off and wanted to do device payment on one of the Moto Z's :)...

I was out & about today and passed a Verizon store (I am out of town on a business trip). I almost stopped in to discuss options. I decided not to and wait a while. I have owned a Droid branded phone since 2010 and am looking forward to the 2016 Moto X; especially if they make another Pure edition. I was happy to hear about a report from Moto that the Z series will not replace the X series and they plan on continuing the X series. I am really torn between the new Droid Z Force with Moto Mods or a new Moto X Pure with pure Android and no more waiting on Verizon to release updates. Tough decision. Reading all of the posts here about the awesomeness of the new Droid Z & Force is not helping! :D

It's $200 for a turbo in trade, I checked a few days ago when I was considering changing plans.

I had the Original Turbo and they gave me $100 when trading it in for Z Force. I really liked the first Turbo, it was a great phone.
So far so good on Z Force. It is tougher to handle with 1 hand though. Also, got the JBL speaker mod which is great
