Why is everyone going crazy about the Nexus One?

Verizon > T-Mobile

That's all I have to say. T-Mobile is a nobody so there is nothing to worry about. The Droid will still be king for a while.

Has anyone seen a side by side picture of the Nexus and the iPhone? When you see them right next to each other, it really looks like they purposely tried to make the Nexus look like the iPhone. Had the Droid buttons under the screen, but it is round and has a big center button like the iPhone does.

Personally for me I wanted a phone that DIDN'T look like the iPhone. I don't like buying things just because they are the latest fads or they look like the latest fads (or because an Apple commercial tells me I'm a loser because I don't have an iPhone), so why would I want a phone that is trying to emulate the look of the iPhone?

I like my square Droid and personally think it adds to the overall screen size (or makes me feel like the screen is bigger). I'll stick to my phone that has corners thank you...

Make your phone look original, outside the box. I buy for originality, not how much they can emulate someone else's technology...

I'm in full agreement with FireGrl!

I do commend apple for some of their technology, but I want nothing to do with anything that looks like an iPhone. I feel the DROID has set a higher standard on looks and feel.

Everyone else can go flaunt their $3000 macbook air and I will keep syncing my DROID with my $700 HP.

Needless to say, I feel Google may be worrying too much about the competition so they made something similiar to the iPhone, when IMO they already dominated when Android came out, regardless of the HW you install it on.

Any phone these days can have a touch screen, accelerometer and play 3D games, it's how you bring it all together that matters and Android has done that!

Either way everyone decides to go, Moto DROID is king in my world and I take no shame in showing it off!:motdroidvert:

Great Thread BTW!

If someone offered me a Nexus in place of my Droid after seeing all the info and video's I'd keep the Droid. Looks better. Better screen. Better buttons. Real keyboard - and the hardware from Motorola can't be beat.

My two cents, google flopped on this one, bar none. The Nexus has had minor success at best. If I were at google I would have told them to sober up, before drinking the stout! Oh, well, I know that the main reason is to open the door to the future of VOIP, and working out the bugs of unsubsidised google phones...

The whole Nexus One thing kinda reminds me of when the iPhone 3GS came out. Flaming aside, I LOVE THE DROID, but everyone was freaking out about the 3GS, but most of the stuff that Apple flaunted for the 3GS was in the 3.0 software. Now that I flashed back to the horrible days of having an iPhone, the Nexus One has only a little faster processor, and 512 ram. Everything else is all stuff that every device that is getting 2.1 will get. Plus, not advertising on TV was a horrible idea. Yes, everyone gets on the internet, and most people stop by Google, but the numbers already say how great it is doing. For me, you can't beat a physical keyboard, even if it is a little hard to get used to.

EDIT: Well, everyone gets on the internet but people hiding under rocks. And those people are just scary in the first place.

You've hit the nail on the head there. T-Mobile is a small, under-valued carrier compared to the rest of them. Ripe for the picking. I imagine that before too long, T-Mobile will become Google Wireless. Hmmmmm.... Now we have the world's biggest search engine / cloud computing company with a fairly decent 3G network at it's disposal.

Once they get that Government contract, you're looking at SkyNet. For real. :icon_eek:

I'm not sure who you refer to as"everyone". From the numbers I saw the Nexus only sold 20,000 phones the first week as to the Droids 250k the first week. Almost every review that I've read and seen the reviewer has preferred the Droid over the Nexus. The Droid had a huge advertising campaign, as for the Nexus really nothing. The Droid you can actually call to get support for your device, the Nexus good luck with the HTC -> Tmobile->Google circle, you will most likely be emailing Google with a pre typed response. Just Google Nexus problems, wow. Then when Droid gets 2.1 lookout, you will get pretty much all of the Nexus features.

I do not think that many people would pay over $500 for a phone nowadays. With all the competition, new phone will be introduced every 2-3 months..

There is a rumor that MOT is looking into buying PALM. I think this is a good move for MOT if they want to survive in this market. They can't trust Google,. Someone will buy PALM IMO...either Nokia, LG, Samsung, Mot and maybe even Google.
