Wife wants a TBolt...please reassure me, store phones were awful!

Played with a couple of TBolts in the local VZW store this weekend...they were almost awful...the two main issues were:

- Slow, sometimes unresponsive touchscreen (tap, tap, tap...hello?!?!)
- Slow UI performance (lagging screen redraws, jerky scrolling through app list, etc.)
- Unintentional selections when scrolling (scrolling through app list and boom, app gets selected and launched).

I rebooted the phones but that didn't seem to help.

I was in shock...I've been trying to get her to upgrade to an Android phone fo a while, and now when she's ready, the phone was just so underwhelming. I've seen demo phones that were a little off, but the fact that two phones were both so bad was disconcerting.

Appreciate it if folks can confirm if what I saw was an anomaly...

I have a Thunderbolt and don't have any of those issues. I love the phone and it's verizons first phone that can talk and surf the web at the same time

Coming from a Droid x I was very sensitive to build quality. Hated the idea of giving up such a fine instrument for something cheap and flimsy like a Samsung. I have been happy with the quality and really happy with the speed, and I'm not in a 4Gservice area. I really like this phone.

The phone is awesome, I played with two thunderbolts at my local verizon store and neither of them performed like mine.

As others have said I have experienced NONE of the above issues and I've had mine since launch day. Even stock the phone is GREAT! I've since rooted and running a custom ROM and the phone is ridiculously fast (w/o OCing). Very happy with the purchase and would recommended to ANYONE that wants one.

I was worried too when I played with the floor models, but the Rep reassured me that it wouldn't be like that. And thus far I can attest that if you buy it, it won't be like the floor examples. It's pretty good

Although now that I do think about it, and after hearing someone else with the same concerns, I wonder how a phone floor model can get that crappy. You'd think it would be able to withstand use of that magnitude.

If she likes the way it feels in her hands, then she will love the Thunderbolt! I had a Motorola Stood and this Thunderbolt is twice as nice at least. It is so fast response wise, and if 4G is available then the speed is incredible.

I went and checked one out and the floor model was that way, laggy and unresponsive screen. However, when I unplugged it from it's charger, it was fine. Weird that it should be that bad when attached to the stores charger, but the instant I unplugged it, it was like it should have been.

Just a random thought :
Perhaps these phones are slow like that because they are running the demo mode for Verizon.

Trust us if the phone was really like the demos u experienced at the store it would be all over the forum about how bad they are but this phone is awesome

OP…get Momma what she wants. My wife has an upgrade and I'm pushing her away from the TB. Why? Well, I'm not a huge fan of HTC and my wife will never root her phone. So I'd rather wait for a Moto that's 4G capable.

I don't think the TB is a bad phone, I just wouldn't get it myself. But if that's what she wants, get it for her. When honey is happy, everyone is happy.
