WiFi Tether Quit Working

I have a rooted Droid X 2.3 and using my phone as a WiFi hotspot quit working after upgrading to Gingerbread. In Froyo it worked perfectly, although there were plenty of other problems in Froyo that I don't want to go back.

It will connect and show Internet Access but when I try to browse a page, it takes me to the Verizon page to soak me for another $20/month.

I have upgraded the WiFi Tether app, tried Barnacle and other tricks like toggling airplane mode, but it still doesn't work. I looked into RadioComm but wondering if there's a better way to make my phone a hotspot?

RadioComm is the only way I know of that works. I bit the bullet last night and it went flawlessly. For the DX make sure you use the QSC 60x5 Chipset Database (Main>MA>CDMA1X>QSC 60x5 Chipset Database). Good luck.

I found RadioComm 11.6.2 but it will not run on my Windows 7 64 bit machine, even with XP compatiblity mode. It tells me it's over 2 months old and to go to the PDO Compass webpage. then it gives 2 error windows. Of course, there is no link to PDO and searching for it brings up a dead link. Is there a later version out there to try?

DroidModderX » -One Click ROOT for Any Motorola Device Running GB!

I used the instructions on this site... I also have Win7 64 bit.

If that doesn't work try wugfresh tether. Just installed on rooted gb running 596 darkslide and it works perfectly. Just install to sd and flash. Also has the untether patch.

Fwiw, I am using cm7 gb and barnacle works just fine for me. I suspect it is something in the blur framework that blocks it.

If there is an app that still works on blur roms, I don't know. But you can still tether on source-based ROMs.

Installed on my phone running Liquid Gingerbread v2.4 and can't seem to get my Win7 computer to connect. Any help is appreciated. tia.

You can use the tether patch (at your own risk) and simply use the hotspot app built into the stock ROM.

Problem was LGB 2.4 wasn't on the gingerbread kernel. CM7.1 and the patch work flawlessly.
