Wifi tethering? Anyone successful?

Hi guys and gals. I want to go ahead and root my phone only so I can get wifi tethering. Has anyone done this successfully? Any tips on how to achieve this? I was doing some web crawling and seems that most people have failed in this area. I know there has to be a successful method out there.

You need to be rooted. Once you have that I just downloaded the latest version of tether. Check the Routing fix option in the settings and you should be good to go. I have the open boot loader from HTC also I'm not sure if that matters or not. It's a whole new ballgame with 4G.
