Here's something u guys may like. Here's a really simple way to get free tethering ,I haven't tried this for myself yet but someone just confirmed that it does work. Turn on hotspot dial* #*#info#*#* then turn ur radio off and back on and that's it. When u finish dialling a menu pops up and under one of the tabs is a option to turn ur radio on and off

Nevermind ... I figured it out. This turns on the Wifi, but you still can only access the Verizon info page unless I'm missing something.

I don't know how to explain it any more simply. Type *#*# info#*#* as if you were dialing under phone info there is a radio toggle turn it off them back on or download switchpan from the market place which will take you to the same menu screen

1. No, you are bypassing the charge sign up page and have direct access to the internet.
2. Yes you can.

Cool trick, looks like you have to do that process every time you want to use it. Im gonna stick with rooting and wifi tether app.

ok so i dont really know too much about this ive only had my dx rooted for like 2 days ha and i wanted to know what the best tethering app would be right now i have barnacle wifi tether
i like it and all but i hate that it takes forever to get up to speed unless thats how all of them work?

You can use the 3g hotspot installed on phone, turn it on, put phone in airplane mode for a few seconds then back off, and hotspot works for free, or team black hat has a patch to make it work straight out.

Wi Fi Tether running but no Internet

Hey All,
I am running Wireless Tether version 2.0.2(theory of evolution). It runs, my laptop can connect using wep but my connection IPv4 Connectivity says no internet access, and IPv6 Connectivity says No network access. I get a speed of 54.0Mbps same as my DSL but can't go anywhere. Windows Diagnosis can't find anything either.There must be something I have to change in settings but I can't seem to find it.
Any help would be appreciated. I am on a Droid X and Laptop on Win 7.

OK, I found another post about changing access control and that fixed it. But doesn't the WEP key give you access?? It seemed you would want access control to keep others off your network, or is it a different kind of access??
Either way I love this, kind of feels like I'm finally getting something for all the money I have to throw at Verizon.
