Will I get charged extra at Wirefly for changing Phone number on Droid?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have the same issue as GrillMouster. I added a new line through wirefly and activated a Droid 2 with a data plan just a couple of days ago. So if I wanted to move the droid 2 to my current phone number, and put an old non smartphone onto the new line (canceling the data plan for that #) it would be reported? If so, this is only an issue for the first 6 months, correct? I just dont want to be charged, and im willing to keep the droid 2 on this line for the time being as long as I dont get charged.

If you changed to a non data phone during the first 6 months, the carrier will report this as a deactivation and we will assess the fee for our Instant Savings Discount. If you keep the Droid 2 on the new line and make no changes for the first 6 months, you will be fine.

Thank you for directly answering my question. Good to hear it from a wirefly rep. I'll keep the phone and data on this line for the time being then!

I did have one small question. I'm probably being paranoid, but just in case, if I were to add $5 text message plan to that new line for the time being, that's ok right? I only ask because I'm having my old phone forward all my calls to this new line, and I'll probably have people text me to this new line as well (for the time being atleast). So I can add a texting plan and remove it without any consequences?

Ugh one more lol. While rebooting I think I noticed a dead pixel. I tried not to let it get to me but I just kept staring at it! It was like a bluish color. Anyways, is a dead pixel a good reason to get a replacement? I kinda does bother me for some reason, and I know other people have gotten theirs replaced by Verizon as a result. Just wondering what wirefly would do.

Thanks!

Dark Lazer, its ok to add features to your plan. Issues will come up if you remove or downgrade features within the first 181 days but you can add all of the features you want. As for the dead pixel issue we will be able to assist you or guide to you where you can receive assistance with the dead pixel. Call into our Customer Service Department at 1-866-852-3216, Monday - Friday, 9am-6pm EST

Ok, I hate asking the same thing as other people but I just want to see if I'm understanding correctly:

Phone 1) my wife with a droid (not available for upgrade for 14 months)
Phone 2) my mom with the freebie when we signed up (available for upgrade)

My wife still has 14 months in her contract from verizon for her droid but I just recently ordered an incredible so now she wants one too. lol

If I were to upgrade my moms phone to an incredible, could I switch it to my wifes line, reactive my moms old phone back for her, and then essentially just not use the droid? I want to do this because I know my wife likes the incredible so much more than the droid but I don't want wirefly to look at this as a deactivation and I end up with an ETF! :(

Thanks guys!

HI!
Don't worry about asking - I can say for sure that I prefer you ask before you make the purchase so your experience is as seemless as you want it to be. :-)

To answer your question, we can only process upgrades on lines that the carrier says are fully eligible for upgrade. We are not able to upgrade a line and swap it to another line. This is considered a "buddy" upgrade, and Verizon does not allow us to process those at this time. Verizon can process this for you directly, and swap the numbers around for you. I wish we could process the upgrade and swap to a different line on the plan for you.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to be of assistance.

maybe I should explain even more in detail lol
We are all on a family share plan together (total of 5 lines)
My wife is the primary account but already used her upgrade about 7 months ago
My mom is on our plan as like phone 3 or 4 and she IS up for an upgrade

I want to upgrade my moms line to a data package and add the droid inc. to her line, then once we receive it actually *228 and active it as my wifes number and then just reactive my moms old phone on my moms number again. (then I would have to cancel the data package on my moms phone since she wouldn't need it)

Yeah, it sucks but Verizon will consider that to be a deactivation of the line you ordered from Wirefly, even though you are still using the phone and paying the bill.

Actually what sucks the most is that they will happily switch the lines around for you. They just don't want to pay a commission to their dealers when you do it.

After reading this thread I thought I was good to go with Wirefly and placed an order but today I email customer service and they told me the opposite.

If you can tolerate one more question here is my set up.

I am an existing Verizon customer single line Droid w/ unlimited data plan - upgrade due in July.

On Wirefly I added a second line to my plan making it a family plan. This plan is a unlimited data plan as well. Ordered the Thunderbolt with this second line.

I want to flip the phone numbers so that I can use the Thunderbolt on my number and give the new number my Droid.

Wirefly customer service says this violates my agreement and that I can't do this without penalty. Reading this thread I feel that is not true if Verizon still does not report this as a deactivation.

The Thunderbolt should be in my hands tomorrow and I plan to visit the Verizon store. Is there anything special I need to tell them to keep them from reporting this as a deactivation?

Thanks for your help!

Verizon Wireless does allow this. They do not report it as a deactivation if you purchase from Wirefly then move the phone numbers on a family plan.

The "rules" bikedogrun refers to have been updated fairly recently in an attempt to ease this type of confusion. If Verizon Wireless does not report your services as having been suspended, disconnected, or deactivated, then you have nothing to worry about.

You heard it here.

Good to see a Wirefly representative here!

I have the exact same situation and a rep from Wirefly informed me that if I swap numbers within my Family Plan, the discount will be removed. I don't think he totally understood my question (communication gap).

I have a Verizon Family Plan. 2 of my 5 phones are eligible for an upgrade. So I ordered 2 Thunderbolts for the 2 phone numbers that are eligible. I want to simply swap phone numbers (keeping the data plan) within the Family Plan. Verizon says that I can swap the numbers, no problem.

Has this changed with Wirefly, or will I be able to still do this without penalty?

Hi, The carrier usually does report this as a deactivation to us and removes our commision. When that happens, the customer is considered to be in violation of the terms and conditions. If you have placed an order, please PM me your order number and I will have your order reviewed.
