wireless thethering issue. some help pls

Down at ball fields. I just recently rooted. Downloaded wireless tethering. My laptop can connect. Phone shows connection but laptop says no internet acres avaible.

Do I need to turn on my 3g then the wireless tether? If I do think will I not be charged the 20 dollars from big red. Can someone give.me the steps in order to use the wireless tether please.

you dont need the 3G mobile hotspot to tether but you do need "wireless tether for root users" (or barnicle) off of the market to be able to tether.

did you configure the settings properly for your computer to be able to see it?

Yes the phone and computer show the connection but the computer states internet unavalible. I am not sure why.
