i use wireless tether from the market, i have tethered macs and pc's no problem ever. not sure if its the same one your using.

i've found it's usually the access control that needs turning off. after that everything seems to work.

I am using the RC1 candidate which is the most recent version with Droid 1 and MIUI 0.1232 ROM. Wifi tether works beautifully.
