Well that was quick and dirty. Just yesterday we shared a story that you could purchase Xiaomi phones in the United States thanks to US Mobile. That is no longer the case though. Xiaomi forced US Mobile to pull all of their devices, claiming that they were not given permission to sell them. Here's the statement from Xiaomi,

“Recent reports have indicated that Xiaomi products will be available in the U.S. Xiaomi only offers a small selection of accessories for sale in the U.S. through Mi.com.” Xiaomi added, “there are no plans to sell smartphones through any authorized distributors in the U.S. US Mobile is not authorized to sell Xiaomi products in the U.S."

This even got US Mobile in hot water with T-Mobile (whose network US Mobile piggy-backs on). T-Mo execs now plan to subject US Mobile's phone vetting process to deeper scrutiny. After this development, it appears it will still be some time before Xiaomi starts selling their smartphones directly in the US.
