The stock text messaging app that comes with your Android device is pretty capable, but there are hundreds of third party text messaging apps that bring even more features to your text messages. Yaata is a feature rich text messaging app for your Android device. The app allows you to customize and personalize the app to make it fit your perfectly. There are so many features included that this is pretty much the perfect text messaging app for power users and regular users alike! There are actually too many features to list here. There is a full list of settings for your sms and mms, settings for notifications, settings list for customization for individual contacts, and a whole list of theming options! Grab this app from the link below.

Been with YAATA from the start. A one-stop app that should meet anyone's needs. Dev is super responsive.

I just downloaded it. Golly it reminds me of Handcent of old. Tons and tons of features and ability to customize before they turned it into a bloatware advertisement for more bloatware then added ads .
The only bug I've found is it won't let me reply from my S .
I've written the developer. I'll post back what they respond with.

ROFLOL shame, really. But I guess they have to earn a living somehow. Still it makes me wonder how others are getting along fine without overburdening us with ads and such.

I don't mind ads at all. It was all the Handcent Services bloat that added then bugging you at every turn to use them then beg for money for using them. I really didn't care about the ads they added recently, what made me leave was mms bugs and wrong contacts or no contact showing up in conversations. I'd get replies from numbers instead of names. I'd get or send a photo message that'd be there in the stock app but Handcent would stay stuck either sending or receiving in Handcent. I used to think it was a Verizon craptacular reception thing until I moved toT-Mobile then AT&T and the bug was still there.
At any rate if the developer comes back that Yaata not going to work right ,because he's not going to fix it, on my S I'll just go back to Textra. I'm kinda addicted to leaving my phone at home and having full functionality.

I had a problem. I made a donation to turn on the premium features but "settings" still isn't available.

I could never get into Handcent or any of the others. If it wasn't for the fact that Hangouts combines my hangouts messages with my texts, I'd probably just use the stock app.

I'm by NO means a power user, but the bulk of my conversations on my phone that aren't social media or forums is done through texting. That said, I just wanna know when I get messages, be able to send them, and use my android wear watch to initiate and reply. Hangouts offers all of that.

For those into tons of customization and features, this looks like an app definitely worth a test-drive though.

I'm looking for a texting app that will still work without a current network connection, because it waits to send the text when a network is present. For example, if I'm on the subway, and I want to text my wife an item to be put on a grocery list, I can't because the app tries to send it, and fails. I then have to manually send it again when I have a network connection. This happens with the stock messaging app, and the newest one I'm trying, Textra.

Every texting app I have tried fails to send the message when offline, except for the default message app on an iPhone.

Have you tried delay its send if you know there's no connection? Say you know you won't have connection for 15, just delay it 16 minutes?

Have you tried going to settings and tapping the retry? It worked for me.

I could do that, but it would delay all my text messages. I think I would prefer it it just automatically tried again, until it was successful at sending the text.

Does it have pop-ups that work on the locked lock screen and have reply functionality? I'll try it if it does. I'm using google messenger now because i love the simple layout, but i'm really getting tired of having to unlock my phone and open the app the respond to messages. Replying from the notification panel works, but its not the same. (My unlock is a 5 digit numeric because i choose to receive sensitive data work emails on my phone, i simple swipe wouldn't have been so bad i guess)

Got an answer from the developer on my watch bug. It currently doesn't support Android Wear full functionality, which is needed for GNE to fully work right, even though it's pushing to Tizen. His answer was "we're working on Android Wear Support.
