Your cable could be your problem

I realize I'm new here, but this is something I've experienced first hand... let me know what you think.

I've noticed several threads about issues with mirror mode and 3.5 mm jack issues. NOT REFERRING TO THE HIGH PITCH BLEED OVER ON BIONIC. But a good cable with adequate shielding can help this, it did on mine .To some people a cable or chord is a chord, and the cheaper the better ....... WRONG!!!

I'm a musician, sound is my bread and butter and let me tell you that all cables are not created equally. Typically MOTO and Verizon offer pretty good stuff, with good fitting jacks and plugs on the ends with good shielding. Fit and shielding as well as wire diameter are important.

The difference in a 5.00$ cable off of Amazon and the 25.00cable from moto could be the difference in your phone performing as it should and it running like crap.

If you doubt this, and by chance you play something like the guitar.... and hopefully u have a decent amp.... Hook up your guitar with a cheapo cable and play it, see how thin it sounds. Then go get a cable like a monster or better yet a custom grotes cable. That's who makes mine, 100$ for a 15 ft cable.... now play your guitar ... huge difference.

You could do the same test with the 5$ cable from amazon, vs the more expensive cable from whomever. Its just like using cheap ear buds vs shure ear buds but I personally prefer Altec.

Sorry for the rant but a lot of people are cheating themselves and their phones.

For any of you more tech oriented guys on here, feel free to chime in on impedance levels and such.....

Monster Cable has what I like to call a placebo effect. Your brain makes you think you detect a true appreciable difference in the sound. Many tests have been done that refutes this - while there is a slight improvement due to the insulation, the improvement is so slight as to not be worth the price premium.

The only time there is an exception to this generalized rule is in technology pushing much more through it - say, an AC adapter outlet cable - or technology natively susceptible to interference - say, a POTS wire.

Agreed.

I can tell you this, the placebo effect is wrong. I can plug a cheap cable into my amp and get a so so sound, plug a decent cable into my amp and I get a raise in output approximately 10db, just from the cable. Perhaps it depends on the setup? Idk.

I'm familiar with the placebo effect. Like people thinking nickel plated screws make tone on a guitar. This isn't the same.

Also it makes a big difference, I've come across a lot of cheap products that use ill fitting ends on their chords.

Your referring to the cheap amp cables they just give away when you buy an amp? Ive plugged my SG into my Marshall 30 combo with them and then with a Fender cable...sounds the same to me no racks, pedals, anything in between just straight amp

I can plug a $5 cable into a $1,000 amplifier and get the same quality as I would with a $100 cable. Why? Because the amplifier is quality. If I take a $100 amplifier...then yes, I might notice a slight difference because the amplifier is garbage and unable to cover up the flaws in the lesser cable. Again, I'm not suggesting that there is zero improvement. I'm suggesting that the improvement you get isn't worth the price premium because it's not appreciable.

If Monster offered their stuff for half of what they do, they'd get more credibility. But as they stand they are overpriced for what you end up with.

I've got a monster 3.5mm cable I stole from work...well found more or less. And a 3.5mm I got for 5$ at walmart. Same size exactly, using my DROID as the source plugged in to a two channel Sony receiver they sound the exact same no difference

You'll get no argument about the price of monster cables, however I with argue about your logic. I don't care if you have a 3000$ amp, if you have a great guitar, and amp, and a bad cable, it will definitely have an impact on your sound.
Sometimes it's not very apparent at low volumes, but its very apparent at high gain.

My guitar sounds bad because it's a cheap POS. I'm old and the Jacksons, JCM800's, and VTM 60 are all gone(but not forgotten).

As an ex Corvette owner, I guessed what your name was. However, what's the problem with women? One of the best engine technicians I know is a woman, and also owns three Corvettes.:D
