I encourage you to keep your phone rooted. You can so much more with it. But still want you to fastboot back. The more you do this the better and more confidence you will have in the future. .here is a link to fastboot files I used. Use the 4.0.4 files 6.7.246
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_targa/list.php. Now I used RDS 5.6
Located on this page http://www.theandroidsource.com/dro...boot-files-5-9-902-flashing-instructions.html

Flashing Instructions
Power off your phone.
Power your phone on while holding the volume up, down and power buttons at the same time.
Using the volume down button, hover over "AP Fastboot", use volume up to select.
Open RSD Lite, press the "..." button at the top, navigate to and select the fastboot files you downloaded.
Select "uncompress and start flashing". Rewatch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAd7XzL76CA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Here is screenshot of rsd.
usumavu3.jpg

Highlighted is your phone. Must click on line 1 for your phone. Then select uncompress. Make sure your phone has debugging selected on in developer options. Hope this helps. The more you do it. The easier it seems.

Safestap 3.11 WHAT IS SAFESTRAP?
(Bionic has a locked Boot loader as do most Android Devices.)
Safestrap is a Bootstrap / Recovery for locked bootloader phones. The goal is to avoid touching your primary system (I’ll call this “stock” system) and only flash or make large changes to another place on your phone that Safestrap treats as a “2nd system” (in this case, it’s a series of virtual ROM slots located on the internal emmc area: “/sdcard”). Once installed, you will see a “Splashscreen” giving you the option to hit “menu” to enter recovery. The recovery portion of Safestrap is now based on TWRP 2.2.2.1 (a touch based recovery) and you can perform .zip installs, backups and restores here. The additional features I’ve added to TWRP are mostly located under the “Boot Options” menu:

Here you can create virtual ROM-slots (up to 4) for flashing ROMs. These ROM-slots allow for 3 different sizes of /data partitions: 1GB, 2GB and 3GB. NOTE: The bigger you make the /data partition the less room you will have to make other ROM-slots.
You can activate a new ROM-slot by choosing the slot you wish to make active and then selecting the “Activate” button. Once active, you will see the “rom-slot#” up in the top of the screen shown in green. If you make the “stock” ROM active, then you can see it in the top shown in red.
Once a ROM-slot is active, all actions you would normally perform using TWRP are directed to that ROM-slot. For example, “Install” to flash a .zip, backup and restore.

Fast boot Note:

Once you fastboot you will lose root. If you want to reroot your phone you will need safe strap 3.11 again. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=234031
Safestrap Recovery v3.1 [12/29/2012 V3.11 - Stock Flash+] Remember. Do this process of rooting and fastboot a few times. Get use to it. Then you can't ever mess up your phone b/c now you know how to fix it. Always!!! Impress your friends with your new knowledge. I store all my files in Dropbox and/or Google Drive for easy downloads when I need them. Give it a shot and good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Wow man, Thats incredible, thank yu. Im sure this'll benifet a lot of people to come.
I really appreciate the encouragement to stick with root. It's really tempting as I love to customize things... there a lot of customization I wish I could to with the "unlock" radial swipe, like adding shortcuts and feature to it, and modding the over all task bar GUI, which Im sure is all possible. I used to mod my psps all the time, even modded the hardware. but it takes me so long to finally get it down to where Im comfortable that, unlike the psp, droid will already have had three new major updates lol. I'm just gonna keep it simple and stick with OTA. I really really really thank you very much for your help and patience man ^_^ I will be holding on to this thread and the files and instructions juuust incase I change my mind in the next few weeks. btw, speaking of which... If I have an OTA up date down the line, and want to go back to root, does droid OTA firmware make it so that you can't root to an older version (saying if I wanted to execute the instruction and files you've linked on this thread down the line.)? And Im also assuming that, Droid firmware aside, this thread/tutorial wouldn't work for any other phone, if I were to get an upgrade. Do you do galaxy tabs? lol. Also, This is probably kinda personal, but Im always curious and never ask... what kind of work do you do? Do you know all this by trade or do you do this strictly as a hobby? Because I gotta say man, people like you blow my miiind. I couldn't believe how much information you provided and how well worded and clear it all was just in the coarse of a day.

so, are ubuntu touch, CyanogenMod, AOKP, and liquidsmooth all different operating systems that run independantly and must be selected on boot? or are they all different apps or "roms" that work under the one operating system?

Bionic has locked bootloader. Scroll up to post 18 and read thru that. You root, install safe strap, build your slots, install ROMs and boot into whichever one you choose. Profit. I'm currently running cm10 in slot 1, aokp in 2 and liquid in 3. All jelly 4.2.2 with jb kernel. :D

sent from my icy Bionic with jellybeans on the side

SO I went ahead and rooted again lol
Im really curious about the features that I found when looking up CyanogenMod, AOKP, and LiquidSmooth, they look awesome and I hadn't really given it enough thought until you sold me on it XD
Im already having a bit of a difficult time with loading JB 4.2.2 though and was hoping I could ask a couple of questions.
I searched through tomsgt123s videos and found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6gHFaG24Xk that explains how to put JB 4.2.2 using Safestrap. I downloaded the files he linked, and then booted into safestrap. I thought I was going to be loading or flashing JB onto the phone directly from Slot 1. But when he gives the step by step, he tells us to choose "speedlite" (something he has for Slot 1) and activate it. And then from that, choose the Cyanogenmod JB 4.2.2 Nightly that he linked on the tutorial page.
Im really confused about this though. What is "speedlite"... and also, Im under the impression that "CyanogenMod10.1" and "JB 4.2.2" would be two separate ... roms? I thought JB was to phone as Windows is to pc (basically an Operate System), and Cyanogen was to JB as Stardock is to Windows (a GUI add-on program).
Is Cyanogen just a "brandname" or group name for JB 4.2.2?

Cyanogenmod Rom slot 1 only!!!

Step 1.CyanogenMod Downloader from play store
Download. Open. Select New nightly.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paolinoalessandro.cmdownloader

Step2. Download. Gapps. Latest version. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
I use Gooim from play store to download gapps and other ROMs.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Once downloaded...( If using Romtoolbox recommended.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox
Buy pro version recommended.)
Find your files.( I group mine in one folder for quick access.) Make sure you know where they are. Once you see the two files....
3. Reboot into safestrap 3.11
4. Create ROM slot 1 (if needed)
5 Flash CM10.1 nightly
6. Wipe cache/Dalvik
7. Flash Gapps
8. Reboot
Whala
When your all done and setup. Reboot into safe strap 3.11 make a backup!!!!

Anytime you flash a new nightly.

Flash new Nightly of Cyanogenmod .... Wipe cache/dalvik
Flash Gapps. Reboot.
Good to go.
If not booting after FEW minutes( black screen) hold in same time ..volume up/volume down and power button same time. Will Reboot your phone. Select STOCK ROM in safestrap then reboot, when loaded up stock, reboot, select ROM slot1, reboot. That will work.

You will need to calibrate your battery after every new flash when your device is fully charged.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration . Enjoy. :)
