[TOOL] Easy Root Komplete

Thanks KaChow.
So, the correct sequence for me is Root --> Remove Bloatware --> Unlock bootloader and then use the phone.

BTW: OTA update may never reach me since I am not on Verizon.

I have the OTA if you want it. Here is the OTA for the 9.16.6 and here is the 9.16.9.

I would suggest using OTA Rootkeeper to backup Root and restore after the OTA, just makes things easier. If you have an Unlocked Bootloader and lose Root, then Root can be restored easily.

@KaChow: I am back after a silence. Got the CDMA (Reliance) SIM card cut to micro form factor and plugged that in today. I got a message prompting me to switch to some "global" mode, which I did and then got another message stating that the SIM is from unrecognized source. Tapped OK and the network signal started showing up. Within moments, got a prompt to upgrade to 9.18.x. I had only 30 seconds to say "later".
So now I have to get the rooting and unlocking done immediately, since I will get the same prompt on the next reboot and it will automatically install the 9.18.x update.

Now, I have registered on the other forum, without which I cannot download the motochopper.zip.
I plugged in the phone via the original USB cable to my Windows 7 64 bit computer and it downloaded the drivers and installed successfully. I have setup debugging mode already on my Razr HD Maxx.

Will keep posted.

Edit: Used Motochopper as described in steps 1 to 5, and got some 'adb' related warnings/ errors. I powercycled the phone after that. Don't see anything related to root on the phone.
Is that success? How to check?

Edit: Root checker says: no proper root access.
Here is what I got when I tried again (same as earlier)

[*] Device found.

After installing TWRP and backing up whatever it could, I wanted to see what I could do with OTA Rootkeeper.
So, I downloaded this from the playstore and it said, no special permissions are needed.
But, then suddenly I noticed that the app is requesting root permissions. I allowed for 10 minutes.
The main screen of the app has a Status section where it shows me
Device Rooted (checked)
Root permission granted (not checked)
/system supports root protection (checked)
Protected su copy available (checked)

Now, I am concerned about why the "Root permission granted" is not checked.
Anyway, I did the backup with this.

Wondering if I have done everything and now it is safe to upgrade to 9.18.x

where is the link for this utility? The link at the beginning of the thread to to a portal site of this website.

Will this program work on the Droid Bionic?
