1.1.1 Sapphire Release and an Anoucement

"I didn't use it that much either but I've been working on it for several hours tonight and I guess it's become more of an annoyance, I want it to work so I know I didn't fail. oh well"

I can only remember using it once or twice since I had the phone.
Truthfully I just wanted to see if I could get it to work. I really don't care if the button works. I read on here about the problems people have then see if I have the same problem. If so I try to fix it. That helps me learn. I just enjoy playing with the phone to see what I can get it to do. Then brag to all the people at work that complain they can get their stock phone to work right or do what they want it to do.

You tool, obviously if multiple people are having problems there might be an issue. They aren't talking **** about it, just giving feedback. I have installed 1.1.1 and had the dialer issue where I just get a FC and have to nandroid. I also had the google search issue. Get off your high "engineer" horse and stop preaching.

And then there are those of us who never seem to have a problem. It goes both ways.

Yup and I get that. My point was him saying there are no bugs and we are all cry babies. I don't call you a liar for saying yours works haha

Your reading comprehension isn't so good, is it? I was comparing 1.1.1 to 1.1.0 which has the same issues. I was talking about people saying stuff like "well, it appears 1.1.1 is buggy so I'm going back to 1.1.0". People with *LEGITIMATE* problems, who have in fact, INSTALLED the rom and find a real bug, should also REPORT the bug so that it can get fixed instead of coming on this forum and saying stupid things like "it's buggy, I'm going to another version/rom." How is any bug supposed to get fixed with that mentality? You may also note that I try very hard to help those who run into problems that post detailed descriptions of the issue they're having. So getting all personal and calling me a tool for expressing my opinion...that's definitely helping those that need it...

Got 1.1.1 up and running no problems with Incognito. Love the lock screen or should I say, the lack of lock screen. :) My question is this, what kernals has anyone used with success. I tried to install the cvps 7x125-1250 lv. Wouldn't take. Just put me into a bootloop.

I had a Chevy 1100lv that I put on but it seemed to run a little warm.

Thanks for the input.

I'm using the new default 125-800 lv kernel and haven't had any problems at all. Performance seems good and battery life is pretty sweet, too.

I am using the 250-1000 lv kernel on 1.1.1 without a problem.

The Google search issue is not a bug with the rom. The fix has been well documented in several threads since 1.1.0 and has to do with files, locations and names.

Exactly. I agree with this, but, apparently others don't and blame the rom and call it buggy. I think it goes back to my comment about education. I just don't know of a good way to get this information to the people who refuse to take any time and read before jumping to conclusions about the rom itself. :(

I don't blame the rom for the google search issue, but when you say the fix is well documented, that isn't quite true. I have done all the posted fixes, and the file is in the correct folder, but the button still does not work.

As for kernals, I am running the sapphire supported 125-1250 lv kernal with no issues, temps are good, very stable, and good battery life.

Let's see if we can help you fix that. Can you document exactly what you've done and what files you have in both /data/app and /system/app for the Google Quick Search Box apk? I'm hopeful we can help you figure it out.

This is the command that I executed:

ln -s /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk

There is nothing in the /data/app folder, and the /system/app folder contains the googlequicksearchbox.apk

Thanks for offering to help me.

I'm going to assume you first installed Google Search from the market, yes? If so, there should be a com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-X.apk in your /data/app folder. X is some number. Mine was 2, so, when I first did the LN command it created a bad link for me, as well, and it no workie. So, make sure that the link is pointing to a valid file in your /data/app folder. Also, to be safe, after you create the proper link (and case matters, btw, it should be GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in the /system/data folder), you may want to reboot the phone and see if that helps. If not, post back and we'll see what we can do.

Yes, I did install Google Search before executing the commands.

There is nothing in the /data folder, not even the /app folder. I did not know that case mattered so that may help but how do I get the /app folder in the /data folder and how do I get com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-x.apk in there?

Once again in my /system/app folder there is googlequicksearchbox.apk (all lower case)

thanks

Download it from the market and you'll be able to do the rest

Something is definitely not right if there's nothing in the /data/app directory. And yes, the case definitely matters. rename it to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in /system/app. However, I'm concerned about the lack of things in /data. Do you have root explorer by chance?
