2.1 issues

Update: my facebook contacts seem to have synched again. I also seem to have improved speed. Email is still lagging significantly (got a few emails this am that were sent last night).

I'm still going to give it a few days for things to iron out. Hopefully by the end of the weekend, we'll all be ranting and raving about how awesome this update was.

:fingerscrossed

I posted in a different thread but my wife got her update late saturday or early sunday and has been complaining about everything being slower. All of her contacts were gone but when I re-synced her gmail and facebook they all came back. I'm going to remove some unnecessary widgets in hopes of speeding up the phone, but does anyone have other suggestions?

Factory reset helped a LOT with general phone performance issues.

Help

is anyone else having trouble with the sd card? i did the update on Sunday..and since then it wont let me save anything to the sd card. backgrounds, pics, etc. So, i went to verizon and they said "it would work itself out"....wow. now 3 days later...its still not working! Can anyone help?

Since I started this thread I also have notice that my phone is much slower as well as the key pad. At this point I was much happier with the old os. I really don't see anything I like better with this os.

agreed
the only thing i think i might enjoy although i havent needed to try it yet. Is the new gps system update

My weather app doesn't work either. The Eris is WAY slower than it used to be, and has less than half the memory it used to have, according to ATK. My contacts synched up again, once I got the email back up, but...

If I had received this phone from Verizon as it is now, I would have taken it back the next day. I went from having the best phone I've ever owned to having the worst. I feel cheated. Grrr...

I really like that you can put individual settings to a screen like mobile web, gps, and sync on the same screen with wifi and bluetooth in switch form. sometimes when you wake it up by swiping the screen it takes a few seconds to load up. same when texting, You need to slow down a bit compared to the old version. Just a few minor bugs but so far liking the improvements! Turn by turn directions will come in handy for work also! AS1

I did a factory reset today, it was a pain but it did make things better. The input text is faster and my speed dial works now. Over all it was an improvement and worth doing. I have to input password each time I use the phone this is the biggest pain and I would like to fix.

i just did the same exact thing today. Took me forever. Atleast i can dial and call people now

I had the same problems with losing my contacts, if you have them already on your google account then just export them over, if not then you have to manually put them in...Now the phone is working fine...

On the phone not ringing, I took out the battery waited a minute, fired it back up and so far so good on that one...

Taking the battery out also fixed my voice mail issues...

I do agree that the upgrade is a battery hog, so I installed task killer and shut alot of things down...Only pain is when you shut the phone off and turn it on you'll see it pop up on the top of your screen, I shut that off also..now Im back up to 87mb so that works for me...

Thanks for the tips in these posts, this phone was starting to drive me nuts...

Well, after updating my wife's eris to 2.1 her phone stopped ringing. I tried battery pulls, all the settings, and even a factory reset, after which she lost all her contacts and they weren't synced anymore to her google account. We just got home from the Verizon store and they swapped it out with a new (not refurbed) phone no questions asked and no charge. Her new eris has v1.5 and that is what is keeping. No upgrade unless I root it and can back up her current version.

Upgraded my wife's Eris to 2.1 and the phone turned to poop. I would call and she would answer but we could not hear each other. Phone was super slow, lagging all the time. Did Factory Reset, was better for a bit but then sucked again. Called Tech support and jumped through their hoops. Worked for an hour and then back to suckville. Took it into Verizon, told them my story and phone was swapped out with a refurb, no questions asked. Refurb came with 1.5 on it with a message to upgrade to 2.1. I upgraded to 2.1 without any market apps reloaded. Did 3 factory resets and then loaded all the market apps back on. I set up the phone the way the wife had it and so far so good.
