3G network shuts down at 11:00 pm

I think it might be the battery manager....I had this prob on my x ..... try going into ur settings--battery manger--battery mode ....look through the options there there is one that says will work during day and shut data at night to conserve energy might check that

I checked battery manager and there is no option on my phone that says will work during day and shut data at night to conserve energy. I even went to custom setting under the battery manager and can't find anything there than peak hours. I switched it to during the day and it still shuts off at night.

I'd keep after Verizon. If it's been on-going for a month or more they have to do something, and at this point they'll probably send you a refurb to test. If another phone does it too then it's a tower issue and they need to fix it. If it's your phone they owe you that refurb.

Um

I've already talked to Verizon they say they can't fix it and they wont' give me a refurbished phone.

Try to leave it on "Performance" mode

Why not? What excuse did they give you? Because the guy I talked to didn't hesitate to offer a refurb to test the tower reflection theory I had as to why my 3G kept cutting out.

The excuse given was that many droid phones were being sold out and they couldn't give me one to try. LOL

That's BS. Utter BS. If it's sold out they have to move up the scale of devices for you to try. Otherwise they are in default of their contract to provide you with service within their ability. Barring acts of God and natural phenomena, of course.

Well, replacement testing aside, do you run any battery saving apps like juice defender, that can or are set up to have a schedule for shutting off your 3G connection? This may be the culprit.

Also yes -96 dBm is terrible terrible signal strength.

My main thinking is there is an app you may have forgotten which affects your 3G connection on a given schedule, since it occurs at exact times every single day.

My other theory is that possibly there is some kind of massive interference going on near your house like a radio station or TV broadcast, or some other kind of broadcast signal which is stopping the verizon signal from reaching you.

Aliens indeed ;D

Try asking your neighbors if they have been having any problems with their cell phones as well?

hmm

well it's not my location because I travel a lot and I have been to NY Boston NH etc and my 3G shuts off no matter where I am at exactly 11. I do not have any other app that saves battery power. I just checked.

It definitely sounds like your phone could be the culprit then. Hey, free upgrade lol :)

This interesting stuff right here. As I speak I am at -96 dbm. Internet seems fast and never had a problem with phone calls. I did a airplane cycle, *228 and it stayed the same. I then grabbed my wifes phone and checked hers and it was the same as mine. What is a good dmb reading so that way i know while I do some testing tomorrow? I do live in alaska and am with alaska communications. Both our phones are rooted and romed with 2 different roms

Anything -85 and above is acceptable. Anything above -75 is considered "good" in the cell world. Aything -90 and below is marginal, and anything below -95 is considered "below service threshold" by Verizon. At least that's what the literature I saw given to a landowner when a VZW tower was being built on their property.
