3G Not Working

I've seen some where it pops up again, I would still use caution and do the restart network app if anything arises. It has to be something with the way the stock firmware interacts with the LTE radio provisioning. Thats the only reason why the hard reset would fix it.

I have an incredible and just got the thumderbolt for my gf yesterday. I had the 3g stop working so i went back today and they did a hard reset. After connecting to wifi at my house and turning tthe wifi off again the 3g has stopped working again. It seems like after initially connecting to 3g it won't reconnect after it has disconnected.

I got 2 thunderbolts yesterday, one for me and one for my wife. Shortly after leaving the store, they no longer could get internet. The 3G symbol would not appear at the top, and under menu->settings->wireless & networks->mobile network it would not show "connected" - only "connecting" or "connection failed" or "connect when you are not using wifi".

I found numerous posts about this problem while searching the net, including here on this board. So I though I'd put my experience down too for others who are having the same issue.

I called Verizon tech support several times today starting this morning. The first time they had me take the battery out and reboot, which didn't work. They told me that they were having 3G problems, and to try again later.

After that I tried installing the "restart connections" app, per a message I saw on this board, but it did not work for me on either phone.

Later I called VZ again, and this time the person I talked to told me they were getting numerous calls about this and were thinking it was a problem with the phone. They had me take the battery out again, which again didn't work.

A that point, they referred me to a level 2 support person. I told him I had seen numerous posts on BBs about this, and wanted to know if it was a problem with the phone or the network. He said it was a problem with the phone, that many new HTC Thunderbolts simply had their mobile network connection go corrupt. Again, I have two of these phones, and it happened to both of mine, so it must be pretty common. He said the only way to fix it at this point is to do a factory reset. I did the factory reset on both phones, and indeed it is fixed. The rep also told me that of all the people who he's had do the factory reset like this, no one has emailed him back to say it's broke again.

So in summary, there's an intermittant problem with many HTC Thunderbolts in that the network connectivity gets corrupted somehow shortly after you purchase it, and the fix is to do a factory reset.

I just got off the phone with suppot as well. Tried everything as you, but he seems to think it is the network. Ticket is open. You wouldn't happen to be from the state of Indiana? He said he took care of a situation similar to yours.

This is frustrating for sure. I lost 3g shortly after getting it activated and it hasn't shown back up even with all the troubleshooting.

Did you try wipe on the call with them?

He tried his settings with the phone off, tried wiping, I tried the restart connections app on my own, tried pulling battery and sim, nothing is working for me. I can call and text, but no data.

From there I would say try the switching to only 3g data trick, power the phone off, then turn it back on, re-enable the 4g services, power the phone off, then back on.

The only other thing I would try is cutting off roaming and setting the phone to home only.

Thanks, but did not work. When I check the box next to Mobile Network after shutting off Wireless, it flashes a couple times then doesn't do anything. Something must be fried.

I'm in raleigh area too, it switches 1X and 3g but I seem fine no matter, but as for 4 g, I'm told only in charlotte, if looking for 4 g

No offense intended but this is NOT the fix. Maybe it was in your particular case but i've done the factory reset 4 times now plus every other fix you can possibly imagine. Still at 1x as of around 7pm last night.

I have tried all these fixes as well. No luck. On lte mode only I get 1x, I even drove to sac into airport last night and was able to get 4glte. Wtf! I'm on my way to work at Verizon I will look in our alerts and post what I find.
