4.5.608.en.US Woes

Before you get all carried away, you should know I deleted, not froze, Cardock because I thought it was a worthless app. Upgrade failed because it could not find Cardock. So, I spent alot of time finding the original Cardock with all the files that are needed and re-installed in the correct place. Made it a system file, etc. Never worked. So, ended up doing the sbf and upgrade thing and all fine. Froze, not deleted, bloatware. I have learned my lesson.

I am on another car forum for Corvettes and it is amazing how much wrong information you can get and have it sound authoritative when it is just someone typing away and sounding like an authority when they know not much.

Caveat Emptor!

I thought elsewhere we were told the update would unroot the phone for us and install. Mine won't install either. Rooted, but install fails. Nothing deleted except for Cardock. Tried unrooting, but Pete's OneClick says cannot find the backup file. Looks like I am stuck at 607. But don't use Exchange, so no biggie, I guess. SBF'ing is beyond what I can or want to do.

This looks like an exact quote of lwags67 post #8 in this thread. Did you mean to add something? (In post 47, lwags67 apparently got to .608 by SBFing in the end!)

What are you running now? If it is Froyo, 2.2, then I would say the update is worth it (although others report problems once upgraded). If you are running the earlier release of Gingerbread (4.5.607) and you don't use Exchange encryption then probably not.

Also, doing your first SBF does sound daunting, but if you follow the instructions, it (usually) turns out to be much easier than anticipated!

I don't use Exchange so only reason I did it was on the remote possibility there might be additional updates to D2G. Any, I like things to work properly.

i tried this

I try downloading all the original software and do a wipe it added the bloat software but still failed so I miss one I was going look at my friends phone he don't jack with nothing he is old man ha so see if I missed one ill download it. Why I grab his phone I was kinda thinking couldn't I just back his phone up with like titanium and restore it on mine and try then? The version I have I think I gotta look. You just replace the 6 with 5 os my version I just did the update back in july with no problem must been back before I deleted the bloated stuff lol. That binary thing you said it would work how you do that?
