Based on the posts from the past few days it sounds like the latest Android Wear app update has some Notification bugs that affect some phone / watch combinations; but not everyone. Hopefully an app update will resolve the issues.
I did have a Facebook messenger notification come through on the watch on Thursday, but I believe that app has a standalone component that I installed on the watch. Maybe only notifications for apps that are installed on both devices are working?
Haven't worn my watch since then, so I can't confirm, but it surprised me to get that notification after days of not getting any.
Although, I set a reminder in assistant on my phone one night while the watch was off (I think) & my watch did notify me of that too. Again, the Google app is on my watch, though.
I have been receiving all Notifications on my watch successfully, no issues with my Moto 360 2nd Gen paired with a Moto Z Force. My wife's Moto 360 and Moto Z Play are syncing dine also and displaying Notifications. It seems like this bug is only affecting certain watches and or phones. Maybe?
see the following for some workarounds for notification issues. there is a whole mess of them
A few have found success after clearing all data for Google Play Services. To do this, tap Settings > More > App manager, then swipe to the All section and tap Google Play Services > Clear cache or Clear data.
If your phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat, go to Settings > Notifications > Settings > On the lock screen. Check to see if the Show all notification content option has been enabled.
Check the priority settings on your Android phone
Go to Sound > Do not disturb > Priority only allows. On this page, you can set your priority notifications, which includes Alarms, Reminders, Events, Messages and Calls.
Check to see if Priority Mode is on. In your Quick Settings, tap Do not disturb > priority only. From here, you can set Priority Mode to last for a specific length of time, or until you manually turn it off.
Check nothing is muted in the Android Wear app on your phone under Settings > Block app notifications.
Check the Show notifications box is ticked for the app in question via Settings > Apps > All on your phone or tablet.
Make sure that Theater or Cinema mode is turned off on your watch. You can turn it on and off by pressing the power button on your watch twice quickly, or swipe down from the top of the screen then swipe right to left until you see Theater mode.
Try disconnecting the watch and forget the Bluetooth connection on your phone. Uninstall the Android Wear app on your phone. Reset your watch to factory settings via Settings > Reset device. Restart your phone and re-install Android Wear and then set up the connection afresh.
If you’re still having issues then you may have to contact support.
It's funny that you mention that Jonny. I took my dog out this morning and realized I forgot to put my watch on, phone was in my pocket. I figured I would just have to tap the "Pairing Request. Pair with..." on my phone and watch, and then re-add the watch as a Trusted Device. Nope. Went back inside and they paired back together all by themselves and no prompts to Re-Pair. AW 2.0 sure has some strange issues.
You can say that again. What's more strange than the issues is how random they come & go. I'm hoping my notifications just continue to work, but I won't be holding my breath.
