Battery issues gone. 8 hours off charger, 84% battery left. Wow.

Unreal. Phone is now just about perfect. Had some battery issues at first, rooted, rom'ed, installed 4.0.3 kernel (the 1.35 one). Left the house at noon with 100% power, it's now 8:41 pm and I have 84% left. lol.

Installed the kernel from here

[KERNEL][GSM/LTE][IML74K] "Apex" Kernel V2 Test (12/19/11) - RootzWiki

and the rom from here

[ROM][LTE][UPDATED GAPPS 12/20] RootzBoat 4.0.3 V4 - RootzWiki

Not sure if it's ok to post links here, if not just edit please.

I can't recommend installing these enough. A really noticeable difference. NO stuttering, no lag, great signal and great battery life. Everything works. I'm so happy I bought this phone.

Is this a custom kernal or the one from Google and the 4.0.3 update?

I'm...not sure. I'm not really all that knowledgeable when it comes to the details of what they put in their stuff (developers). I just go with what everyone says about the roms and kernels lol.

This combo is just sick.

I have the exact same setup and very happy as well. Over 4 hours of screen time (been playing with it alot today...haha) and at 40% left. Very happy with that.

Did any of you grab the 1.35ghz kernal?! That's what I'm lookin for!

*edit: is the 1.35 a lot quicker? Thanks!

Hearing things like that is making me want to root and rom mine as well. IDK how long I'll last on stock! DancingNexusDancingNexusDancingNexus (just noticed dancing NEXUS!!!)

I think, being a nexus, that this phone is absolutely for the tinkerer, rooter, rom'er, etc. But so far as I've ever seen, every android phone can be improved upon by the community.

Makes one kind of wish manufacturers would simply manufacture.....and leave the coding to the big boys at home.

And what all did you wipe before installing this? Full data/cache wipe?

Factory data reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache and format system...can't be too safe. I have found doing this alleviates a lot of the issues others have. Always wipe battery stats as well for a new from after it has been fully charged.
