The LTE Toggle for Thunderbolt works on the Razr Maxx as well for those interested.
You say this is your first smart phone so maybe you just aren't aware that a hard reset is an occasional fact of life with these devices. I've chosen to not go for the ICS update as I'm quite happy with GB and status quo.but that said if I was updating I'd most definitely be doing a hard reset back to factory. It can solve a whole slew of issues. Just back up what you can and go for it. It's not the end of the world and may make your phone run much smoother.I'm having the same problem with my RAZR. On Gingerbread, I would get a day of light to moderate use. Since I updated to ICS, battery life sucks. I didn't even use my phone yesterday except to make one call and send/receive about six texts, only to wake up this morning to find it dead. I think I even had it on the charger for a little while yesterday during the day. My wife's RAZR seams to be fine. Who the hell wants to factory reset because an update jacked their phone? This is my first smart phone and not happy. So much so that iPhone is looking pretty damn good right now.

I'm still happy on 173 and have no plans to go forward. Why mess with what works for me? I have frozen the updater so no worries and no prompts. I love my Maxx as it is.I'm not sure you have a choice in this. I think at some point, don't you just bring your phone alive and VIOLA - they've upgraded FOR you?

So for all of you with the drop in battery life, make sure you change your network setting to cdma/lte...the default was global. I changed this setting when I first got the update and my battery life was at least on par with gingerbread. Give that a try and see if this helps at all
