Battery life

good battery life

I am now on day 4 with my Droid Razr and my battery life is doing great right now. beginning I was worried because I was getting about 7-8 hours with very high use. (New phone so messing around and setting it up). But today is probably the first day I have actually just used it like I normally would which is moderate use. (texting/calling/few web) And I am currently at 22 hours off charger and still at 50% battery. One thing that helped a lot was the Smart Actions. Basically set a trigger for display off and have actions that turn wifi, data, and GPS off. I think this alone helps my battery.

Ok not sure how you guys are getting so many hours. I basically have everything off except wifi when im home. Then moderate use when i'm out on 3g and i'm not getting anywhere close to 20 hrs..

Lot been said about battery life. Two things:
1. Check the MotoCasst - if you use it. For me MotoCast was staying in the sync mode constantly and it ATE my batter. I downloaded an update for computer based MotoCast - no more problem. I would suggest if you use MotoCast and it continues to sync - stop the MotoCast on your PC.

2. Maybe a bad unit. After figuring out the MotoCast thing, my battery was still lasting less than 10 hours. I took it to the Verizon store - the exchanged it for me.

With both of these - I can have high use - and get about 20 hours.

Hope this helps.

I was really worried about battery life. But after installing Juice Defender Ultimate, I'm able to use my Razr all day long (moderate use) and have plenty of charge left.

I don't know brother. I would see what you have running..Juice defender is OK for older devices with the crappy bloat but today's devices shouldn't need it at all unless there is something or some things running. However I don't have 4g yet in my area so maybe that's a small factor. I seriously get close to 2 days with no task killer what so ever and I'm normally an extreme user. But I haven't had any ROMs to flash either so....lol I think whatever works for you all go for it. I just hate to think anyone should have to shut down anything that makes a smartphone a smartphone...lol God knows I won't. I studied hard for a device to withstand my abuse and so far this one is doing pretty well.

Ok, so I have had the RAZR for a week now and love it. As far as battery goes, I will say this. The past two days I have not been with my phone the whole time and thought I would come back to a dead off phone, not the case. I was able to use the phone for quite some time after getting back to it. Here are the battery details: Battery Use for 1 Day 22 Hours 47 Mins. Had an hour of talk time, half hour of browsing time, and a good amount of time on wifi and cell standby. Phone has done well with heavy use and very well with idle time. Also should note that i have numerous smart actions set up for battery life saving.

Well mine goes to work at full charge and with light use I still have a full battery when I get off eight hours later. No task killer whatsoever ...The razr is awesome..And if the non removable battery bothers people just know there are many options like a power pack and or travel quick charge packs available though not really needed for day to day use..They seem to have done an awesome job on it but I think an update will fix alot of issues people have like every other new device.. Hell the iPhone is nonremovable as well and I don't hear much issue with them....lol

I usually don't tend to rebut people who have high post counts as they provide a lot of input, BUT can you please explain, logically, how your phone can possibly maintain FULL charge after 8 hours of work with ANY use whatsoever? It is simply not possible. I know that you may mean this different than how I am taking it, but I am one of the guys who has been with android and for the life of me my phone can't top 8 hours with light use. When sitting idle on the pillow this morning, fresh off the charger, I dropped from 100 to 99 instantly then from 99 to 93 within 45 minutes of zero use.

I am not calling you out as much as I am asking for your help. I am stuck with my Razr as I used a family member's upgrade on a DIFFERENT account and swapped it to mine and they did not tell me that it even voided the 14 day return/exchange for working equipment. I am literally stuck with my phone no matter what unless Moto allows me to exchange via their warranty. Any advice or suggestions?

Also, has ANYONE ever got a warranty exchange through Motorola and if so how did the process work? Thanks so much guys

My battery has normalized and I can get away with not charging my phone for a day and a half... perhaps more if i conserve my use. Just make sure that apps aren't hogging resources when you don't need them to. This is with light use (a couple minute-long calls, about 40 texts, and a couple hours of data on and off during the day)

Can't say that its def not possible. Another update, took my phone off the charger last night freshly charged and got 1 hour use out of it (texting, browsing, few phone calls) and the battery went to 90% within the first hour and a half. I then passed out for a good 8+ hours. The phone has gotten a few missed calls and a few texts and the alarm has been used to wake me up. The phone still has 90% after now being on for 10 hours 21 mins. Smart actions and proper battery conditioning has been key for me!

OK.. I pulled it off of the charger,@6:00am...Checked my emails and made several posts. Checked free app of the day..At lunch I sent you the message at full charge (meaning full battery icon not full as in no juice was burned whatsoever lol) then at 3:30 as I was posting again and watching some repair update videos for work, it dropped one notch...I would hope I wouldn't be taken a full of six lol but I'm not here to impress anyone, instead offer my opinions as well as facts ..I do not use any smart actions or task killers. Right now I'm at 70% but I've been surfing quite a bit. Peace! Hope this helps..

Also. If you pay the insurance you should know your insurance can be used. If your phone is dying that quickly I wonder if its how you made the first battery burn...

Thanks brother sounds like yours is running good too!
Update ...60% still haven't seen an outlet and I've been on it a while. Talking texting a video and muchos surfing ..Prolly have a better reception than those not getting good life or maybe its all the running apps killing other apps. Never liked those...lol

I've had the Razr for a week now and was very disappointed with the battery at first. Now it's just the opposite. I've been off team charger for over 8 hours with moderate usage and Bluetooth connection for almost 4 of those hours and I'm at 70%!

I really can't expect much more than that. Smart Actions is the answer the answer to Android's battery life issues.

All hail Motorola and the Razr!
