battery temp

and I don't recall freezing or unfreezing any programs but just to be

safe where am I able to to that so I can check? THANK YOU!!

I found the SetCPU in the apps link here and

if I download it I just want to make sure I really need it. from the reviews it sounds like I should if I'm a rooted user but I'm still unsure of what "rooted" means, sheesh. cell just rebooted again, arrrrrrgh

Ok, you're not rooted, which means you can't use SetCPU. Don't download it and don't worry about it. Don't even worry about rooting or unrooting. It's probably not something you really should do at this point.

The applications drawer is where you go to look at all/open the apps you have installed. It's the button in the middle at the bottom of the screen when you're on a home screen. You don't download it. It's part of the operating system.

It sounds like you're new to Android. It would probably be helpful to learn about a lot of the basics. Check out this thread - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/new-member-introductions-site-assistance/116993-new-android-check-out.html. It will be very helpful in learning a lot of the ins and outs.

well I just read up on what rooting means and it sounds like I don't need my phone rooted but I bought it from verizon as a certified preowned phone so I'm not sure if the previous owner rooted it or not. I will buy the setCPU though because my phone feels warm a lotm could be it's 91 degrees here, lol. before I download the latest update though that you mentioned so my phone stops rebooting by itself I want to make sure my cell is not rooted and I don't know how to do this. any more help would be greatly appreciated! You can download other programs from the market that will tell you what the battery temperature is for free. There's no need for SetCPU. You won't even be able to use it since you're not rooted. It will be a waste of money.

If the phone is certified preowned, it's not rooted. Verizon would not send you a rooted phone. Rooting voids the warranty, so Verizon does not encourage it.

that's great! so I can go ahead and install the update

then? I have only downloaded one application which is the amazon app store and that's it and haven't even used it yet so I imagine i'm safe from freezing any apps/programs after the update. and lastly could you please refer me to a site where I can download the free SetCPU? you have been a GEM! the instruction booklet that came with my droid is so puny it doesn't even begin to cover all the functions etc of my new cell. I have always been a blackberry user and this is my first droid and I just want to make sure I get all I can from it and don't mess with it's core, its very much like my desktop/laptop computer as it does so much! Thank you! :icon_ banana:

One thing that helped my phone cool down a bit was changing the network settings from Global to CDMA.

Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Network Mode....change from Global to CDMA...this will help with batter life as well.....:D

I changed it to that mode

and right away I recieved a new text from an email that should have gone to my email inbox. odd, will wait and see what happens. could the battery get more overheated if I keep my protective hardcover on it, since I attached it it seems to be acting up, I feel like such a newbie. So I'm going to go ahead and install the update, wish me luck! THANKS SO MUCH!

Since you're not rooted, you cant use SetCPU. Don't even worry about trying to get it. It's an app that can only be used on a rooted phone.

Just search in the market for "battery temperature" or a similar phrase. You'll come up with quite a few choices for free that do not require you to root your phone. You'll find widgets and programs specifically for that. Just don't get SetCPU (it's main function is not reading the temperature of your battery).

Honestly, unless you're noticing that your phone is burning hot, you really don't have much to worry about on the temperature of your battery. I never check mine. I only glance at it if it feels unusually hot for some reason, which really never happens. A cover really doesn't affect the temperature of the battery.
