Benefits Of ICS on bionic?

Browsing is reported to show definite improvements in speed, and will add tabs.

Battery life is reportedly improved.

There's a myriad of other improvements, but they're all benefits of ICS, not specifically benefits of ICS on the Bionic.

I'm too concerned with the security aspect of the face lock. Photos have been shown to fool it. I think I'll stick to pattern or password locks until face lock becomes more secure.

You are absolutely right Nate, but from an even broader security standpoint, look at it this way...it's still harder for a thief to find and use a picture of you than it is to just press the button, especially if you just left your phone lying around and someone picks it up!!

I feel like if a thief has the ability to find and obtain an actual picture of you to use on your facelock, then you're pretty much screwed already.

Any news yet as to WHEN ics will be available? Will it be a free update or have to buy the update like with a new version of Windows? I search online but there is no specific or relative date, just speculation... i don't want a hacked ROM i just want the real update...

All OTA updates are free. Lol Android would go under really quickly if they tried to charge for an update.

There is no ETA for ICS on the Bionic though, I personally wouldn't expect it for another couple months at the soonest. Its kind of one of those things that will be out when its ready.

have they even set a date for it? id say around may we should all see ICS but i could be lying because we all though we'd have our Bionics by the end of april 2011

Why not have the facelock feature detect movement in facial espressions. Something a picture couldn't get by. Also what happens when in a dark room. It would seem the facelock feature would fail at this point.

ICS will be coming in 2012 if u search it on google you can see what phones and when they are getting the update

I've searched Google but only found speculative dates... nothing says for example 1st quarter it will hit razr's then 2nd quarter will hit bionics etc...

You can get the Go Widget contact widget from the market. When i installed Go Launcher EX i couldn't use the stock quick contact widget. Its nice. That's an idea for now. Hope we can still keep it tho. Egh, what I'm trying to get at it. If ICS doesn't include quick contacts. You can use Go Widget from the market. There...sorry

Only if you use Go Launcher, though.

And that's because there is no Official word yet. Trust me, you'll be seeing it in the News section on this forum (as well as several threads) when something definite comes out. And watch out for people who said they called Verizon/Motorola/Google and spoke to a tech/supervisor/manager/CEO and got a date for the release as the odds are if another person called they would get a completely different answer.

Here's an app idea; sorry if it already exists: Every time the phone is turned on, if the security test fails, take pictures with both cameras and send them to a predefined address.

From playing with the alpha roms, honestly its mostly looks and minor functionality updates. Nothing that special.
