Best Car Dock

I saw that one after I posted but was hesitant to order without a pic

I would be hesitant too. But its the same model/item number as the one I have. Maybe try contracting moto to see if that's the right one.

I'd have to look at mine to see what the model number says, but if dmisc says it's the right number, you'd probably be ok. I looked around for just the cable before taking mine back to Verizon and ordering from Amazon. I wasn't able to find just the cable for sale.

Has anybody used this dock with an otter box commuter series case? I know it will accept a case but not sure if the otter will fit since its a little fatter than most. Thanks in advance

i took my Droid X car dock apart. there is a shell that slides up and off first. Then removed the four screws from the back plate. Now gently pry off the second shell forward. Once off you will see the power connector. Remove the connector harness and replace the second shell and put screws back in place. The remaining car dock will fit the Razr Maxx perfectly but with no power to the dock. Just plug in the car power adpter what came with the dock and the phone will have power to it.

I am curious about this as well. I have an existing universal mount that manages to fit the Razr Maxx with the Commuter case but it kinda just holds the phone on 2 sides and doesnt seem the most secure. In my opinion if I cant charge the phone while driving with the navigation app on its just not worth it to buy this dock w/o having to take the case off.

I took my razr into the Verizon store and borrowed one of the navigation docks they had on the shelf. It fit perfectly.

I've read this thread before, but just figured eh.. the dock I bought didn't have it. However, I use my phone in my car for TuneIN and of couse navigation. Not having to plug the aux port in would be awesome. It seems that motorola's site is the only place to just get the cable. Even at the wild price of $20, it may still be worth it. Would just have to get a car charger with a USB port that supplies sufficient current.

I'm thinking about the Energizer ones on Amazon, can push up to 1.5A, pretty sweet.

I just got a RAZR Maxx, so I couldn't get the dock on Amazon and at $20 more, I can just spend $20 or so and get it from Motorola.

It should work great with the Maxx, right!!?? Thanks

Bummer, no go on this.. My car has bluetooth built in for calls only, too bad no audio streaming. I just found someone who said this:
"One caveat: Using the unique 2:1 cable connection to connect to your aux input only works if you do not have the bluetooth connection active. If you use the extra cable, you can listen to the phone thru your sound system, and talk into a bluetooth hands-free unit. I would like to see the dock/special cable work similarly, but it doesn't."

Seems to say that because I'm using bluetooth for calls through my car's microphone, that this won't work?

Been looking at this package, but I am not sure about the holster as it looks like it might be too far away. I would like to put the phone next to the steering wheel in my car. I have a gps pad on the dash that has a disk on it, but I think it's too far away and I don't think I can move the pad any closer due to a curve in the dash. The cigarette lighter is down low so that really is a no go. I also would like to get a car charger with high speed charging and I really like that usb cable with the audio jack. I know verizon has a dock version that has a really long neck that is adjustable by bending it, but I've read that it has a tendency to bounce. So, I guess I could place the holster near the steering wheel by adhering it to the dash, but my question is regarding the car charger. Does it charge at higher speeds than any old charger? Or are there other chargers that perform better?
