Best Car Dock

Dock is made to fit very tightly. I have a thin silicone case on my Razr and it would not fit. :sad-b:
 
Just trying to be a little safer on the road. I would only use it when traveling. Rather than look down at my cup holder where it usually sits, I could have it at almost eye level.
 
I want to purchase the package on Amazon for $40, but can't due to that fact. I'm wondering if I could sell the holder on ebay and keep the rest? I keep hoping something is gonna come out for the maxx. I want to be able to launch the cardock app, but the dock is the only way right?

This thing solves that problem by adding the headset jack to the USB cable and eliminating the need to plug in your headset jack on the phone. Now you just pull and remove the phone anytime. I'm telling you, it's genius.

I'd highly recommend you purchase one of these if you are going to spend any time in your automobile!

I was looking at that model too... And then there is this one that allegedly is just for the RAZR MAXX.

But, as you can see it is all of $20 clams more. I just wondering if the MAXX will fit into the car dock you ordered.
 
I swapped out phones and I'm now using the Maxx. I went to my local VZW store last night and picked up the cheaper version for $29 that doesn't have the nice USB cable with audio. I plugged that Maxx dock into the same cable for my Razr and it works great. I know that now I've spent $90 on the stupid car thing, but at least I didn't have to reorder the $60 Maxx car dock from Amazon. By the way, if you're looking for the Maxx car dock, it's located here:

And no, the Maxx really does not work well in the Razr car dock. You have to remove the insert and the phone slides out the back and falls on the floor.

I on my first cup of coffee.. thus some of what you wrote did not register with me. Can you provide a link to the particular model that you purchased last night? The smallish Verizon store that I went to did not stock any mounts. Verizon's site does not show a mount that is 'compatible' with the MAXX. I'm gathering that the cable you are referring to is the one that comes with MAXX and does double duty both with the charger and to tether to something else ~ tablet, etc. My case is back ordered. The one I'm getting is a sort of rubberized material that protects the sides and back of the MAXX. It slides on and off. Is this the type of case you are referencing that needs to be removed first before the MAXX can be inserted into the car dock? Finally, it looks like this car dock has a sort of suction cup. This is the one I picked up in store. I get a 25% discount on accessories, so it only cost me $30

The cable that I'm referring to came with the original Car Dock fro the Razr. It is a USB charging cable that has a 3.5mm plug for your car, if your car has one of those. It's a nicer cable than what comes with this one from Verizon. (I posted a link to it in the original post.)

Yes, it has a suction cup, but also has the sticky attachment, if you don't want to use the windshield mount.

If you are getting a case for the Maxx, you will have to take the phone out of the case to use this car dock, so you might want to explore other alternatives. They have generic docks that allow you to keep the cover on. Give Amazon.com a shot. They have every cellphone accessories available.

If you buy the $60 Motorola Car Dock, you get one of those ^^^ The nice thing about it is that, A: There are two USB ports for plugin in 2 devices, and B: it has a built in 3.5mm headset jack on the plug so taht you do not have to plug in to your phone. All you do is place your phone in the dock and it charges as well as plays music through the headset.

If you buy the cheaper $40 Verizon Store version, it only comes with a regular car charging cable.
