best new phone

Does the s3 have good battery life?

Sent from my DROID BIONIC

Yep. It has the best battery life of any LTE phone on Verizon except for the MAXX. I've been surprised by that considering its larger screen, but the Snapdragon S4 is an incredibly efficient processor. In comparison to most phones, there have been hardly any complaints about battery life in the S3 forum. The S3 also has the added benefit of having a removable battery, giving you the option of an extended battery or switching to a second standard battery when your battery runs low.

Maybe of it was earlier in your contract they MIGHT have swaped that phone with a different phone. But since your so close to the end. I doubt it

Why wouldn't verizon let me upgrade earier? They told me I had to wait until november.

Getting an early upgrade usually depends on one or all of three things - how far away you are from the end of your contract, who you speak to, and how you speak to them. Not everyone will have the authority to give people early upgrades, even if they have the authority, not everyone will do early upgrades, and depending on how the conversation went about the early upgrade, they may not feel like making the effort for whatever reason.

Another potential factor is the type of store you went to. Were you at a corporate store or at an authorized retailer? If you were at an authorized retailer, your chances of getting an early upgrade are slim to none.

Bsweetness is right. You can call and be on your best behavior and the rep on the other end will not budge. If that happens, hang up and call back an hour or two later. Also, come at it as a problem that you need help fixing for yourself. Let them come up with the idea of upgrading you early (with your guidance of course)! A lot of people call up with an attitude of "this is YOUR problem, YOU fix it." Remember a politician can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you look forward to the ride!

If you go into the store, see if you can see into the employees area. Look for a performance board (sales). Don't go to find #1, s/he won't care. Don't go look for the guy in last place, he won't know what to do. Look for #2 or 3. They will want to get that sale to move up and will know how to do it.

I know that it is snake oil level but it is that or deal with the problem until you hit your upgrade window or go full fare on a new phone. It is worth a try....

I emailed them and they said they can only do early upgrades 30 days before the upgrade date. They suggested certified pre-owned. There aren't any 4g devices on crtified pre-owned.

I am hearing that the S3 Radio has some big issues but maybe a soft ware up date will fix it. :frown:

Maybe whoever you heard that from got the S3 mixed up with the Galaxy Nexus. While the reception on the S3 isn't quite as strong as the RAZR/MAXX or the Rezound, it has the best reception of any Samsung Android phone that's been on Verizon to date. It's been quite solid. There are no "big issues" that I'm aware of.

Verizon and U.S.Cellular both have come out and said there is a reception issue and Samsund is working on a fix. Its not all of them so maybe it is a bad batch.

Do you happen to have a link for that? I follow information on the S3 (particularly the Verizon version) extremely closely, and I haven't seen any statements from Verizon regarding reception issues. It's the sort of thing that would be all over the place too. I'd love to see it if it's really out there. :)
