Best phone, underrated popularity

Anyone else thinking that the Fascinate is underrate for the quality of the device?

I think the screen resolution is second to none on the VZW network and the gpu is much cleaner than those used by Moto and HTC.

Yeah it has a plastic feel to it, but it is not that much different then the feel of the iPhone 3, and we all know how widely popular that phone got. Besides, I really not a fan of that fake rubber feel all the other models seem to be producing.....do you really think because it has fake rubber and is heavy that it is less likely to break?

Coming from the Droid, Incred, and X...the camera on the Fascinate was like a breath of fresh air. It is quick and clear. There is little, to no, grainy appearance as you can see in Moto taken pictures. HTC builds a nice lens package, but the software is slow and it is hard to get off a pic in time. Yes I know, you want a good camera then get a camera, but let's be real, you need a quick shooting, good quality camera for those awesome moments that seem to pop out of no where.

I do have one complaint though and that is with the sound quality on phone calls. I have tried all the hacks and such to correct and still nothing. *228 didnt work either. It is only a problem with the headset though as the echo from the mouth piece is loud and cracks the earpiece sometimes. Apparently 2.2 update is set to fix this, but for now I will complain....I mean nothing is perfect right?

I have to agree with everything you said. This is a very good phone. I came from a droid/droid2. I loved both of them and really kind of gambled when I switched to this phone but I am so glad I did. Everything works so much smoother. Better display, better camera, etc. I have no regrets at all.
Now if samsung/verizon can just get the weak signal bug fixed......

It's a great phone for sure. I haven't had the call quality or signal issues and hope 2.2 fixes it for you. The only other Android phone i've had is the Droid and the Fascinate blows it away, imo.

I disagree with the Fascinate having a better Camera, My X take way better photos than the wifes Fascinate. Also the X feels solid and the Samsung is almost toylike. IMHO.

Its not the rubbery feel that we like, its that its metal underneath the coating. That is what will keep it from breaking. Haven't handled a fascinate, just stating what i like about the motorola's.

I work for Big Red so I had a lot of time to play with both devices before making my choice to get the Fascinate...

The main reason I chose the Fascinate over the 'X' was the aesthetics...

I more so preferred the 'buttons' being a part of the screen rather than tactile as they are on the 'X', as it just seemed more modern to me...I also preferred the more 'iPhonish' design of the Fascinate, which to me gave it more of a sleeker look and feel than the 'X' (IMVHO)...

Also, I previously had a Droid 1, and I was far from impressed with the low-light photo capabilities of the camera software (:rating04:CRAP!), so even though the 'X' had an 8 megapixel as opposed to the Fascinate's 5 MP camera, I thought the Fascinate did better in low-light situations due to better S/W running the camera functions.

Customers often ask me which of the Android devices is the best, and I always tell them that I cannot give them an answer to that because all of the devices at the core are Androids (for the most part), however the different manufacturers (Moto, Samsung, LG, HTC) have put their own stamp on the devices, and it comes down to personal preference...

Do you want tactile buttons to fall back on and/or are scared to give up your Blackberry? Then go for a Moto Droid 2 or Droid Pro...

All touchscreen? then the Incredible or Fascinate, and if you must have the ability to connect to a large screen to view your vids and pics, go for the 'X' with its HDMI output capabilities.

One thing I have noticed is that many of my business customers have gravitated towards the 'X', because more and more they see the 'X' being used by the colleagues/bosses and/or it is being recommended by their IT people as they like the encryption capabilities of the device (some of that may also have to do with the recently expired buy-one-get-one promo :)).

The Fascinate has its shortcomings for sure (the delay on getting the 2.2, BING as the default search engine, and the lack of an led light to notify of missed calls, text or emails), but overall I think it is a pretty kick-ass device, and I have had very few returns after selling probably close to 100 of the devices since its release. :rating09:

I agree the Fascinate is awesome (I am swyping...lol). I also feel one device is no better than the next. I have noticed that I get a much better battery life than any if the Motorola's. The AMOLED screen is the best! There is a difference in the phones doing 3 way...the Fascinate can do it, but when the 3rd party hangs up, you can not add another 3rd caller; the X can disconnect from 3rd caller and call another person. Found this out trying to help a female bail bondsman...lol...they have person in jail call them and they contact mom or dad who may said hell no to bail and they may have to call grandma or grandpa keeping the prisoner from wasting their one call! Don't know if the D2 can do this the same way. I'll check it out today!

Nope...I was told "before XMas" by one of our beta testers from the corporate office back in November, and a little over a week ago "sometime in January" by our Samsung rep...

would have to disagree, for now..

I would have to disagree that the SF is the best out there on Verizon as it stands today. I would agree that the hardware is sweet, but the hardware is only as good as the software. With the signal quality issues, GPS issues, audio jack high jacking Bluetooth, can’t move an e-mail to another folder (corporate sync), being asked are you sure you want to delete an e-mail every time, VZ nav as default, no LED lit for messages/alerts, Bluetooth audio quality issues, samsung car dock made for it not putting everything in landscape and a painful car dock launch app you can’t edit or change, etc… I find it very hard to say it’s better than the X I was using for 2 months before this with none of the above issues.. again the hardware is sweet, great in the hand etc.. but man I sure hope 2.2 is the savior we all hope it is..
I understand there are "hacks/workarounds" out there to help with some of the issues, but not needed on the X..
