Best SMS App?

The one thing I don't like about textra is I can't just do a one click on phone icon to make call to person I'm texting. You have to click the person's avatar then click call. Just an extra step. I might email to ask them to consider making that change.

Oh, and for some reason I can't access textra from my recent apps list. It shows but doesn't go to textra when selected.
Never mind, it's working now!

I like how you can swipe left in the conversation list view and click call.

Tap'n Turbo
Thanks PereDroid for the heads up on that feature but that still involves having to go to the screen twice; once to swipe and once to activate call. Most often when I want to call someone from texting it is bc I'm in the middle of texting them back & forth and I want to just call, get the conversation done & over with instead of a million texts so I just click the phone icon to call. I know, what spoiled brats we are to want a one click method, lol!

I just had one last night that was a group message with a picture. I have it set to auto-retrieve again since I got the Stagefright patch update to my phone itself. It didn't download it and when I tapped to download, still nothing. Switched back to textra and there's the picture and a response from someone else in the group.
Were you on Verizon data or Wi-Fi when it messed up? The reason I ask is I had that when I was with Verizon often, no matter the message app I was using, and only Verizon Messages on Wi-Fi would let me get my picture messages. It might be Verizon and not the app.

WiFi the first time, data only this latest time. Each time, I switched to textra and the MMS downloaded right away, so I don't think it's the network. I've never had trouble receiving MMS before with hangouts or any of the many stock apps I used on other devices.

I can't receive MMS if I'm on WIFI only. Has to be Network data. One reason why I stopped using tasker to cut my connection at night.

You can download them with the Verizon Messages app over wifi. I ran that for a while because I could have it on my wifi-only Nexus 7 tablet and send and receive messages while my phone was charging, in the other room, etc.

Right on. If someone sends me a message, they can wait until I get back to my phone. :)

Yeah. That and the fact that I didn't care for the app at all sent me back to the stock texting app on whichever phone I was using at the time.

Of course, if I'm in range, I can just reply by voice through my watch these days. ;)

Click the icon to the right of your home button. Looks like two windows. That's your recent apps.
“A elderly gentleman walks into an upscale cocktail lounge. He was in his mid eighties. He was very well dressed, hair well groomed, great looking suit, flower in his lapel and smelling slightly of a good after shave. He presented a very well looked-after image. Seated at the bar was an elderly really classy looking lady, (mid seventies). The sharp old gentleman walks over and sits along side of her. He orders a drink. He takes a sip. He slowly turns to her and says, "So tell me, do I come here often?"
