biggest piece of Cr$P phone

I have to agree when I was 18 I bought a computer and the Motherboard was bad on arrival. I called and they sent me a new motherboard great computer after that. It still works but it's slower than my phone but it still works.

I definitely have some problems with my DX. First off the speaker on the back of the phone is way too quiet. It feels like such a downgrade from my original Droid's back speaker, I mean that thing was really loud! I thought they were supposed to fix with the Froyo update but it still sounds like crap to me.

And that leads right into my other huge concern, which is Froyo itself. It just seems to have really effed up my phone in general. I hope I'm not the only one either. One of the first problems is with the phones orientation, namely it going from portrait to landscape all the time for no reason whatsoever. And I know it's Froyo's fault because I never had this problem until right after I updated the phone to 2.2.3.

It does this switch non stop, so I constantly have to sit there and hold the phone down so it will return to portrait mode. I thought well I'll just turn off auto-rotation and that will fix this for sure. But no, no such luck at all! It's driving me batty! Also another recent problem that is occurring is like what the original poster talked about, where I'm in any kind of app and my phone will freeze up. The only possible fix, short of chucking my phone at the wall, is taking out the battery and replacing it. This is so frustrating! It makes me want to reformat the whole phone which is really annoying..

So I don't feel all of your concerns but when it comes to the phone freezing I definitely know how you feel. That and my orientation and low speaker problems. I really hope Motorola or Google or whoever can fix these problems. I wish there was somewhere I could complain to Google about this, if anyone knows please fill me in.

But even with all that garbage I will still always support the Droid and all things Android! They are without a doubt the absolute best phones available. I would never want an iPhone instead the Droid has so much freedom and creativity.

Go to your compass setting. Be patient. And set the compus correctly. It will stop losing it's orientation.

bad phones do occur. Complain higher up...take the phone to a management person at a verizon store. If that doesn't work, call and keep calling. They keep logs of all the complaint calls, eventually you'll get a sympathetic ear. I had one problem with verizon, (not the droids, but one of the kids phones) the guy was going out of his way to get me credits for all the inconveniences.

or try rooting, maybe that will override some of the glitches present in your phone.

Call quality is better on my dx than my d1 (on my end and the other end), never had any apps cause my phone to lock up or any of your problems. But I am not doubting that it does happen.

My 1st replacement was brand spanking new with box, charger, battery, booklets and all. Opened it up, programmed it, ran backup assistant and grabbed the Official 2.2 OTA. After that, any time I shut her down she would get stuck on the /\/\. So Warranty sent me another.

My 2nd replacement was bare bones, strapped to a plastic slab, no goodies and said "Certified Like New." And this one runs BEA-tiful. Refurbs or "Like New" are just fine.

Am sorry bout your issues:(

OP, no one has suggested that your sd memory card might have a corrupted file/filesytem on it. My original Droid was working perfectly on 2.1. Every time I loaded a 2.2 Froyo rom, the problems started up (lagging, freezing, unresponsive screens). It was so bad, I had to pull the battery just to reset it.

Went back to 2.1, everything was good, loaded Froyo again, same results. I was ready to take the Droid in to Verizon for a refurbished phone, but decided to try putting a spare memory card I had into the Droid. The droid loaded and ran Froyo 2.2 flawlessly with the spare sd card. I backed up and reformatted the original sd card and reloaded only the essential files and folders back to the reformatted memory card and the Droid ran perfect on Froyo.

Factory Reset!
My phone was rooted from day one. Didn't take the 2.2 update until their was a root procedure. I run plenty of apps with no issue.
Rooted, themed and deodexed.

The OP experience is abnormal at best. Factory Reset and if that doesn't help, get a new phone.

Rooting is the best thing I ever did.
