Bionic is now free...

Does anyone know for sure if Bionic upgrades through VZW are also free or just new customers? Specifically I am looking for people who have seen that price or who received the phone for free when upgrading through VZW.

Just upgraded my mom's line from an LG Ally to the Bionic for free. Well, plus the stupid $30 upgrade fee

Does anyone know how much the HD Station alone is? I'm about to get $60 for allowance and I've got $40 saved up already, but I'm more looking towards getting a pair of Turtle Beach's for the xBox..

i think around 65-75 in the store if they have them. retail is around a 100.00

With the news of the dropping of unlimited data plans, I am in a dilemma. As much as I would prefer to update to an unlocked device like the nexus, at this time it is not feasible due to monetary constraints in my budget. I will not have enough spare cash for a while to buy the upgrade I want, yet I do not want to drop my unlimited plan when I do have the cash. Free is definitely something I can do. I am considering going with the bionic for the free upgrade to my og droid while I can still upgrade and keep my plan. I do see there is a dev community for the phone. My question is how strong is the dev community for it since I will for certain root and modify any phone I get. Thanks.

I don't think you will be dissapointed and always have 14 days to return it. I'm still loving mine and really don't see the need for an upgrade anytime soon. :)

Add another member to the bionic community. Got mine yesterday and think its great. I dont understand all the hate towards it as it seems like a very solid phone. And....i can actually see the screen outside in daylight!

Maybe my view is distorted as i upgraded from the original dinc. So to me its like going from a chevy to a lexus..

I think when our phone gets the ics update we will have the perfect phone.

I was waiting for the rezound to go back on sale...and hoping the nexus would soon, but when this went on sale.....well, you cant beat free, and im cheap...and poor.

Congrats on phone purchase and it is a very nice phone

Thanks i love this phone! I havent been able to use 4g yet because it isnt available in my area yet. Let me ask you something, is 4g faster than a good wifi signal? Or are they similar in speed?

They are similar, but I usually do get a higher 4G signal, sometimes its considerably significant.

Thanks. I got a question what is tapatalk 2?

It's a forum app. It allows you to log into many forums (like this one) from your phone and post. There's also a Droid Forums app, that'll just go here. If you see messages saying "Sent from my <Insert phone name here> using Droid Forums" that's from the Droid Forums app. Tapatalk costs 99 cents while the Droid Forums app is free.

Some sites say that WiFi has a maximum of 54 MB per second while 4G LTE has a maximum of 100 MB per second. That being said expect less (at least in my experience). A good WiFi signal means you won't use data and you probably won't notice a difference in speed. A lot depends on what site you're getting the data from. If it's a site that's delivering 1 MB per second, it doesn't much matter if you're on 3G, 4G or WiFi.

4G LTE is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The thing about 3G is that when you're watching a video in the browser using Flash Player you have to deal with a lot of buffering and stuttering, and you can forget about watching a high quality Flash video. 4G LTE is fast enough to keep up with these videos. With 4G LTE downloads are at least 3x faster, streaming is consistent, webpages load faster...it will save you a lot of time. It you go 4G LTE you'll have a hard time going back to 3G.

Well, I am now posting this from my brand new Bionic. I figured it would be best to roll with it before I was unable to upgrade without keeping my plan. I so far really enjoy it. The phone is so much zippier than my OG Droid was, even with running the latest Steel Droid rom. I don't see myself regretting getting this phone. Maybe today i will root it and try out a few if the roms available.

I only get 3g at home but 4g at work

That may be due to location. I live in San Diego, one of the first cities to get 4G. Our house is in a valley and reception is spotty at best. Inside I might get 4G, 3G, 1X or nothing. Go outside 20 feet and 4G pops up quickly. At my parent's house 4G is good enough to stream a movie on Netflix.
