Blacked Out Gingerbread Keyboard... WITH "shadow buttons"

I can't get the gingerbread keyboard to install using Rom Manager. It says the file cannot be opened?

Others were mentioning problems with loading it on the DX. This was ported for the D1, nobody's quite sure how it reacts to the DX besides not working.

After I install it, I don't see the gold color on the spacebar. Any idea why?

I combine these two zip into one because I don't have ROM manager. During the course of repackaging, I see following information and don't understand why:

1. There is an empty framework directory DarksidedBlkGingerKBrev2.zip;
2. In GingerBreadLatinIME.zip, it makes attempts to change attribute of a lot of system programs that have nothing to do with this keyboard, /system/bin/netcfg, /system/bin/ping, /system/bin/pppd-ril ....

I want to say clearly that none of these would compromise the phone operation. I just question if they belong there at all.

Is the GOLD color picture a fake or I got the old / new version of this?

The gold in the space bar only comes up when you can auto complete a word, it just pops up, its not there all the time...

As far as the zips, the gingerbread zip was made by someone else to remove the stock keyboard (LatinImeGoogle.apk) and replace it with LatinIME.apk...

My zip contains the framework folder as well as a fonts folder because it is what I use for my themes. That zip can be used to install system apps, fonts, and framework... that way I don't have to keep up with so many zips....

I have the gingerbread keyboard installed but it wont let me flash over the theme

I have autocomplete checked under Menu->Setting->Language & Keyboard ... Dont know why it doesn't show up.

mdrentz, did you flash the gingerbread keyboard that I supplied first? If you are using the stock one, it is named different. You need to flash both of mine because there are several floating around, but I built me theme off of that specific one...

thinkmega, on mine, anytime orange words pop up in the suggestions strip, my orange bar comes up on the space bar....

No, it doesn't behavior on mine. I got the orange words on the top, the white line on the spacebar remain.

Here is another problem I have, I don't know if it is related to this keyboard:

I reformat /data and cleanup /cache to restart the entire thing. I got an error message saying "Setup" has failed or something like that. I did this after having installed two of the zips.

I was thinking to combine yours programs to a ROM so everything goes in once. Now I may not be able to do it because of the "Setup" error. Just let you know. If you know the internal of the changes, you probably can help.

Yeah, I am not sure about that. I do know that installing an app and the themed app at once usually doesn't go well. Most of the time the regular app needs a reboot and initial start before the themed app is installed...

I have an interesting bug...when I type a word, and it auto-corrects, and then I go back to it later ot change it, instead of replacing the word it attaches it to the end of the word thats already there. It does this with the stock keyboard unthemed, so it might not be something you can fix, but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if they fixed it. I had a different gingerbread keyboard before and it behaved properly, I think. Thanks for any help.

I flashed your keyboard first and it worked fine. I started up my phone and checked to make sure. Then i went back to flash the theme and it kept saying aborted for some reason.

Here is the new all-in-one package you can try.

I've tested this one my phone, it doesn't cause the SetUp problem should you reset the phone (factory reset). It will take away the stock keyboard and replace it with the GingerBread keyboard with all black keys.

I want to thank ecsnead69 again for creating this wonderful theme. I really like it a lot!

There is no change when it comes to installation. Copy the zip to sd card and rename it to update.zip for SPRecovery. I don't have ROM manager so I can't say how to install in that environment.

Hope it helps!

I really wopuld like to try this nice keyboard but I can't get my D2 to cooperate....I am rooted, I copied the files to the root of my SD card and run rom manager, when I select the keyboard zip file to install, it says press ok to reboot into clockwork recovery.......here is where I run into issues....it never goes into recovery, it just reboots normally....no install :(

If you have clockwork, you can just reboot into recovery manually from the power off menu. Then go through the install that way. I install everything manually. The only reason I have ROM manager is to get Clockwork Recovery...
