[BREAKING] New Market coming soon!

I don't have it yet. We could back up the app with Titanium backup, then refund it, try it for a couple days and by the app if you are going to keep it.

very true, good point. Most people won't buy it though once they already have it. Google and the devs are shooting themselves in the foot. People are way more likely to pirate with such a small window

does that work? ive tried to do that but with astro and once i made a backup of it it grayed out the refund button in the market

I understand its a short time but comon really most apps cost at most a couple of bucks so who cares. Next when I DL a paid app I research the comments section see it if has a free one to try first and when I do DL I check it out if it works and I like then I keep it if I dont liek it or dont work I refund it takes me all about maybe 5 mins. Cause I dont know what you all do with apps but there is not much to decide on as soon as you open it up so I see it as not a big deal and Apple dont have a refund so whatever I dont see the need to ***** becasue you want to download the app and not use it for 20 hrs? Don't make sense. So instead of doing that do this research and if it is all good download and right away try it out yuou like it keep it you dont refund it not that hard or big of a deal

The post above mine gets one of the points. A lot of apps are resource hogs, or arent written properly so they have adverse effects on your system. You can't always tell this from comments. 24 hours gives you a day to use the app as you would normally to see if its worth your money. Even an hour would allow you to check out battery usage better than 15 minutes would. With 15 minutes, you basically have to buy the app and use it immediately. So if I buy a productivity app, I have buy it right before I intend to try it, then try to do all of the things I would need it for in that amount of time. Its not possible.

To give another example, there are other GPS apps in the market besides Google Maps. Some of which are very nice, but they cost a bit. For me to test one of those, I have to buy it right before I intend to use it, then make sure wherever I drive to takes less than 15 minutes to get there, otherwise I could be out $60 on a crappy app. As i said, with a 15 minute window you basically have to purchase an app right before you intend to use it, rather than see if its even capable of doing what you need. And while most apps don't cost that much, pissing away money for garbage is just bad financial management no matter how you look at it.

@buffalomadman, that may be your opinion but there are a lot of downloads on the market that aren't just apps, they also have services that run in the background like widgets and apps for texting/mail/social networking etc. a big part in deciding what app people use depends on if it drains the battery or if it has a well handled scripting on polling data etc. and to determine whether the app(s) people pay good money drain the battery takes a little more than 15 minutes, and if there is going to be a cut in the amount of time, wouldn't say 8-12 hours be a better window of refunding so that people would have at least a minute to run tests to determine?

oh yeah and a couple bucks may mean nothing to you but ..lets just say im one who cares and i'm sure theres plenty of people out there that feel the same

How do you go from 24 hours to 15 minutes? That seems crazy... They couldn't even go to like an hour atleast? Dumb decision IMO.

That's exactly what I posted when I first read it. It usually takes me a few hours to decide if I'm going to keep a paid app. This sucks especially if you buy a theme or home replacement and find it to have bugs or doesn't agree with your device and by the time you figure it out, oops I can't refund it. I hope they amend this because I want developers to have more incentive to create & develop but gives the consumer less incentive to buy.

If want to put the market in check, dont, buy the apps let that flow about a month. Goonie,s will change there tune.

So you think this is bad, huh? Do you know what type of refund policy the App Store has? You need a letter frm the son of God in order to get a refund.

Look it's never taken me longer then 15 minutest to decide to keep an app. i think this is a lot of crying from spoiled people who are to tight to take a chance with a buck or two when you purchase an app.

And the first thing some of you did was talk about stealing apps, which isn't allowed in here. Great solution. You still don't know how lucky you are.

I understand this is a big change, I haven't even looked at my D2 to see if the Market as changed. I do undertand that making it an hour would have been better then 15 minutes.. These devs need support or you are going to b subjected to a whole bunch of advertising when you open an app. Some of you are worried about spending more the .99 on an app. I'll bet you've let half fininshed bottles of beer at the bar that you paid 5.00 for. Let's ge t real.

It's still the best Market out there. Support the devs, if not then just spend 15 minutes with the app and decided if it's a keeper or not.. And remember this is the Droid Forums so watch your language if you're upset find the proper way to discuss it without cursing and swearing.
