[BREAKING] New Market coming soon!

I know there are 5 pages of this but I agree 15 is NOT enough....there have been times where 24 hours wasn't enough. I bought that printshare app after the free version was working flawlessly....well started my 7 straight shift and didn't get to even launch the app for a week after I bought it.....it never connected to my printer and hasn't since....uninstalled and installed free one but apparently it updated and doesn't work either.

But I understand this is a unique circumstance. I think the refund policy should be 24 hours of runtime for the app. Not 1 day....24 hours of total use. That means for performance based apps....battery savers, task managers and so on, you will have enough time to find out if the app drains power or saves, speeds up phone or slows. With almost all other apps I usually know within 60 seconds if it is staying or going....if it makes it through first start up then within the next 5 min I know.

But I think the 24 hour use thing also influences dev's to produce a better tested or higher quality line of apps.....maybe 24 is a bit much.....but for performance based you won't know till you run it for a day.....so maybe have catagories with different refund policies. 15 min for games and "bs" apps...and a day or 24 hour use policy for tools and stuff.

If want to put the market in check,dont,buy the apps let that flow about a month. Goonie,s will change there tune.

So all this and I can't filter apps by developer or by words in the app name? No ability to "never show me this app again?" I'd really like to stop using alternate market apps or market sites, but I can't browse the apps lists when all the same garbage shows up.

Why show me apps I have installed when I'm browsing for new apps? Why can't I block everything with "task" and "killer" in the name? Or everything from the dozen or so devs that spam market entries with apps that are just skins over existing web sites?

On the 15 minutes, I won't buy apps unless they have free/lite versions now, period, end of story. Forget the comments, how can I trust a society that rates up task killers? To prevent the number of app returns that occur between 16 minutes and 24 hours - which Google analysis indicates is statistically small, devs have forced themselves to give away 80% of their functionality, make the 20% worth money, killed the casual buyer who leaves half a beer on the table and eliminated the substance to a true distinction between the other market and Android's. I think it's a little early for Google to kneel to A-tier developer whining about market differences when refund, a tangible one, is a competitive advantage for the platform.
 
New update looks sweet. New refund window is pure crap.

As aforementioned, the brainwashed thinking of the Android Market consumer should feel privileged and fortunate for refund capabilities is reprehensible. The consumer owns the Market. If there is no consumer, then devs are wasting their time making products for only themselves. I can buy electronics, clothes, hardware, etc. from a store and return them within 30-90 days. Having at least a mediocre refund window is everyday common sense.

The best approach to this is to simply not buy apps that cannot be fully tested within the allotted time. Eventually the devs will complain due to decreased revenue and something will have to change.
 
How often do we see comments from iphone users that wish they had a 24 hour window to get refunds on paid apps? Step in the wrong direction

Also, is this made public when the new market installs? What's going to happen to all of the people who "know" Android has a 24 hour refund window then all of a sudden its gone when this new version updates? Are they screwed out of there refund because they don't read blogs?
 
Personally, if I have a more complex application, then if I can't go thru the market I would go thru the dev for a refund at that point, and knowing the type of dev's I've dealt with in the last year, I know that they would give it to me should I ask and have good reason to drop it. That said, I'm ok with it for now.

Listen, if they see purchases drop off and the reasoning given is the refund time, then the developers themselves will want Google to rethink that 15 minutes.

We're over reacting here IMHO, most apps out there one can tell if you're going to keep it or not by then, and for those that don't know, wait it our a bit, read reviews online - meaning that I now challenge the dev's to provide such review sites with Sw to test and evaluate for all. This could eliminate bad apps, and make the process smoother as well, instead of just relying on app comments.

If it doesnt go back to 24 hours, I like this idea..

I think if enough ppl complain Google will go back to 24 hours. Some excellent points came up in this thread as to why 15 minutes isnt enough.

I coludnt get it to work long before the fc's, but it looked good. Seems to have a problem with CM 6.1 for some reason. Check out posts 33, 56 & 57. Read the entire thread for tips. Make a backup if your going to try it.
 
As a developer (a noob one) ill have to agree, the 15 minute window sucks.

Any app worth anything should give you more than a days worth of use. Getting to use it one whole day will allow you to decide if you want to use it more.

The only people who really benefit from the smaller refund window is: fart apps, porn apps, screen crack apps, and apps that are just a bunch of text (jokes), and other useless apps.

I for one will be happy if all the apps mentioned above just go away...

And don't get me started on the crappy coders argument! Most devs just suck and suck all your battery life with their apps!

The 24 hour real use vs 24 hours flat is pushing it.

Most 50 console games don't give 24 hours use ... why should a 99c app?

Most apps are useful for using a few minutes a day, in order to have 24hrs of use you would have to keep it for at least 2 months ... that's crazy!

I too think the 15 minute return window is terrible. I understand most apps are returned within that time but not all. I don't think this is done to benefit the consumer at all, it's solely to encourage more developers all while alleviating the worry about returns, IMO. This isn't necessarily all bad as more dev's is what we want :)

It's not about the money from my point of view, I throw away a dollar or two on crap every day, whether it be a soda, a beer, etc. so the same amount on an app won't break the bank.

.... I am excited to see the new Market however :)
