Breaking News - In the Case of Apple vs. Samsung: Samsung found Guilty

calm down guys. Both sammy and apple had their day in court. The ruling is what it is. That ruling did not make my nexus all of a suddenly stop working. This just means sammy and other android oems need to continue innovating and patent what the own. I personally not going to allow a court ruling to change how I feel about tech. I like all tech both android and apple. My phone of choice is android. All the other hoop la I leave to the lawyers. The only time I will have an issue is if they were going house to house taking sammy devices from people. Until then its lawyers being lawyers. It will work its way out in the end and life will continue. The lawyers continue to get paid, the courts get paid, executives get paid. The only ones who suffer are the customers and the employees who get laid off to cover the court costs.

Well said.

I've been anti-apple as far back as I can remember. As a kid I hated other peoples powerbooks for their lack of functionality over my windows 3.1 PC. I despised the iPod because it forced you to use iTunes(plague upon mankind) when there were so many other MP3 players that gave you freedom to use the player however you wanted. And I hated the iPhone because despite it's nifty GUI, the first couple models lacked the basic functionality that even my blackberry curve had.

Although this news upsets me, I think that in the long run, apple will be the death of themselves. They have a long history of telling their customers what to like about their products instead of developing what the customers are asking for. Sooner or later the apple fan club will realize that a slightly more polished product is not a worthwhile trade off for platforms that give you freedom on the devices you paid for.

the bad part

What we have is not good. Calm down is not something you want to say; with each case we start to set a precedence. This is how over 90% of our laws are made.

We cite past verdicts that a judge has made and nothing is done to change the law till a court over rules it. With each ruling it becomes less likely we will see any change in the way patents are dealt with. Be pissed, be very pissed even at android.

I agree with you, but I have to wonder what your opinion is on where the line should be set as far as patent law is concerned. If someone invents a way to run cars on tap water they should probably be protected to some extent, but I think most of us can agree that apples patents on the general appearance of a phone are a taking it too far.

Ok. Let's say that somewhere down the line, the apocalypse happens and the Supreme Court - where this case will, in all likelihood, eventually end up - rules that Samsung is violating the law by having, say, double tap to zoom on their browser. So what? I have 4 different browsers on my phone at present made by 4 different IT companies. Is Apple going to take each of them to court? This is the benefit of having an OPEN platform like Android!

do not take it the wrong way, I hate apple. Do not own a single apple product. Their patents for the most part should not be given if you ask me.

I am a fanboy of Google. Asus transformer 101 tablet and droid3/LG(forget the name) phones. And I will be upgrading to Google's next phone.

However I am not blind to see that what moto has done and some other handset makers are doing. Its very hard to side with someone when they are doing the same thing.
The line is not my place to pick, it is the courts and they are not doing a very good job if you ask me LOL

Azshatz! Damn Apple! they've always wanted to destroy any and ALL competition. Now they've succeeded in serving a devastating blow to Samsung:-( I bet the jury was bribed by APPLE. Well, if the rumors of Motorola's come back is true with the closing of offices worldwide and the firing of 4000 employees and hiring a fresh new development team with Google as their new Owner's. I hope to see Motorola/Google crush APPLE someday:mad:!
