Unlimited, but with limits? Just like our taxes. Going up up up. But just on the rich, right? The slience coming out of Verizon on upcoming Android products has been deafening. I'm not liking the way all this is playing out.

Some, if not most won't agree with this statement... but no I don't think VZW will throttle iPhone data, just the rest of us. (not just Android)

everyone is going to have the same speed. iphone is not going to be faster then any other smartphone. they're guaranteeing speeds for everyone. if an iphone user uses 20GB (or whatever amount VZW decides) a month they'll be throttled to...

You don't find it odd that VZW revamps so much of their business model conveniently around launching the iPhone?
Granted what I said was dramatic, and you do act as the voice of reason to my statement (thanks btw) but it's just frustrating to watch VZW lately...

That's not what they're doing. It's a throttle that'll affect anyone who uses an exorbitant amount of data regardless of what phone you have. verizon is not stupid enough to just give iphone free reign on their network and spit on everyone else. come on, how do people really believe this?
secondly, yes, their loyalties are headed towards apple because again...it's apple. I know people don't like hearing this, but google is not apple. Google is nowhere near apple. And android is not ios. Apple has a lot more pull than Google does, at least currently. meaning apple will get to call the shots with ios more so than google calls shots with android. but as far as network decisions, apple has no say in that and never will. to think otherwise, is nonsensical.
this throttle is happening because verizon knows that a ton of people are going to get the iphone and they're going to add a ton of customers. it's preventative not punishment. the overwhelming majority are not going to be affected. the ones that will are the ones that tether and torrent. or the ones who legitimately use that much data. those two groups are simply not important to verizon.
yes i absolutely see what they're doing and i agree with you. And i do know that they're definitely favoring and going to favor iPhone. but in this case, i dont think that's what they're doing. i think they're doing this to give everyone a reliable network, not just iphone users.
they favor iphone because it's iphone. a stupid reason, a simple reason, but that's all it is. no ifs ands or buts about it. when an LTE iphone comes out, they will advertise that like no other before it. it's just what it is.
but the throttling is not a pro-iphone thing (at least in my eyes)
This may hael ensure I do a 1 year deal. I hate to be stuck to a 2yr contract where If I dont have an iphone I will get the back door treatment. Whether I have an iphone, android, or blackberry, data is data and I should not get more or less of a break because of the device I have.

... it's no secret however that AT&T throttles solely because of the iPhone... so I don't find it unreasonable to believe VZW would to.
I think we're just all aggravated to see all the changes with VZW lately.
And as some have said, most of us shouldn't notice a thing, the top 5% is just that, a small percentage.
Only time will tell if it'll affect a large customer base.

I happen to believe that Verizon is exactly that stupid. You see, it is looking more and more like VZ is acting like a kid with a shiny new toy, and now the old toys (android, BB) are going to be put aside and ignored so they can spend all their time with the new one.

i'm going by what the original article stated. nowhere did it state that only android customers, or only bb customers, or only android and bb customers are getting throttled. if they're trying to improve their network how would allowing iphone users to do as they please help? why would the throttle be selective? it doesn't make sense.
they're doing this to get everyone on a level playing field for when the iphone gets here. to be able to hold something over at&t and say, "see we can deliver on our speeds and our network quality". not to punish those who don't get an iphone.
i can say the same thing to you...do you have proof that they are only going to throttle non-iphone users? i think my deduction makes more sense based on the article, much more sense...

It may be for 'everyone' but I think it's pretty evident that it's because Apple doesn't want VZW to subsidize a new iPhone every year for a customer.

They went to 3g and convinced us we needed it and now they're pushing 4g,
but you better not use too much.
WTF? Why not charge $10-15 more for 'real' unlimited data plan.
What about the 95% shouldn't they pay less?
How about Unlimited and then Unlimited lite?
Or not even unlimited, or pfftt for a small fee?
Do you think they can find a way to charge you for WiFi download,
after all it's on their equipment?

absolutely. and apple definitely called the shots on that one. vzw is definitely becoming apple's you know what haha...but i saw that coming a long time ago...sad but true.
