Build.prop edits = great battery life + fast phone + full market

In case anyone wants built prop that is closer to the Droid X for Market fixes here is the Droid 2 build prop... should solve Market app availabilty issues and be a closer match than the Droid 1 version posted in post 1 (since DX and D2 share basically the same apps).

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/droid2_vzw/cdma_droid2/droid2:2.2/VZW/22.20:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

Can this go on 2.3.13?

If you are talking about the Droid build prop I just posted, yes. That was pasted from my 2.3.13 :)

Here is a better version to put in your build.prop...it has additional lines to remind you to change it back and preserves the original code for when/if it becomes official as far as the Market is concerned. You can then just delete all this lines except the last one, just remove the "#" from in front of it and you are back to original.

FYI, I try to do all my BP mods this way so I don't forget the changes and can but it back to original or to use as a reference for further tweeking.

#Temporary Droid 2 Build prop fingerprint below for Market availability
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/droid2_vzw/cdma_droid2/droid2:2.2/VZW/22.20:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
#Original Droid X 2.3.13 Build prop fingerprint below, remove pound sign to restore and delete 2 lines above.
#ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/shadow_vzw/cdma_shadow/shadow:2.2/VZW/23.13:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

Can someone post an original copy of the build.prop file. I'd like it just in case, since I already wrote over mine.... I know, big dummy!
Here you go. I made an update of mine then I read it was for 2.2. I haven't gone to Froyo yet.

Yes, All of my edits can be used with the new update. And they are all available as update.zip's through Rom Manager avail. in the market.

Just download, and install. They are all Non-Wipe updates.

As long as the market fingerprint is for 2.2, you'll see all 2.2 apps. No matter which phone the fingerprint comes from.

You can still edit your build.prop file for 2.1... you just may not have all the options talked about in the thread. I went and made some changes to mine... things like the wifi timer, show screen from call, heap size. Those are all from 2.1 and carried over to 2.2.

Was going to install build.prop from rom manager to fix market.

Is the newest one still causing issues capturing pics/video and playback?

Now that the Official version is released, you shouldn't need a Market fix as long as you have the 2.3.15 build prop.

Since late Tuseday and after a Data Reset I have had Market apps I had purchased showing up I haven't seen since using my Droid 1 and had forgotten I had even purchased!

Hey can u do this for droid 1 or just for droid x? Or is there a diff way to do it with droid 1? Thanks and don't mean to be butting in this thread. Lol

I'm on the first 2.2 leak. I did the build prop from Rom manager and having no problems. I heard the official was having the market issues too?

Is there any benifit to upgrading from the first leak to the 2nd or official?

Nope, the Offical OTA has the best Market "access" of any Droid X software to date, at least for me....even better then the original 2.1 because we now get the 2.2 only stuff too :)

What you may have heard is complaints the first half of the day of the release. It take a while for the Market to fully "adjust" once whoever pushes the button to authorize the new software version on the Market (think Domain DNS changes populating the internet).

Thanks for clarifying that.

Another dumb question and thanks in advance.

I can installed the 2.3.15 build.prop on 2.3.9 right?

The OTA market fix/mods from rom manager?

Would that have any improvements over the build.prop I'm using now which i assume is the d2?

Use Root Exployer to edit the file. The file is on both phones.

For those who lose an original file here is what I do:

backup my phone with a full backup.
Flash back to a stock version of the phone
Set aside the file I need
Restore back to my backup
swap in the file I need that I just grabbed from stock.

If you've gone back to stock before, know how to root, know how to make a backup and also know how restore you should be able to blow through that sequence in about 10 minutes or so.

If you can't zip through those steps and plan on messing with your phone then learning how to go through those steps would be high on my list of things to learn to do.

Great thread. I've recently switched roms and notice my battery doesn't last as long as it did. I'll be looking to apply some of these tweaks where I can, thanks!

On my d1 I had this setting:
wifi.suplicant_scan_interval=30
which I changed to 90

This was set the same as suggested
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=1000

I found it interesting to see
ro.build.host=ubuntu-froyo
and that the ro.build.figerprint had ESE81 in its name

root exployer backed up the file automatically as build.prop.bak

hopefully my battery lasts longer than it did, thanks again!

I highly recommend you go ahead and back down to PURE stock 2.1 and install the OTA 2.2 update...

It will resolve all this stuff, your phone with be faster, smoother and happier, and so will you.

I have done it on 3 Droid Xs since Tuesday and all the 3 run the best I have seen an X run...in EVERY way!

Last night with my DeoDexed Theme loaded, 216 total apps installed (including system and ALL original Bloatware apps), WiFi and GPS on, dozens of Blur Widgets on the Home screen, all the Messaging, Twitter app (and "Blur Twitter") Social Messaging, News, all that crap active and 28 services showing actiive in "Running Services" in other words just how I use it daily, with no cheater "turn this and that off" tricks...I was consitantly getting 1480-1500+ with Quadrant Scores.. Good enough for me :)
