CM6-RC1 setcpu profiles

That thread you referenced will pretty much give you all the information you need to answer your question. There was a bit of discussion about exactly what you're asking around pages 15-18.

I'm running a P3 1200MHz LV kernel with CM6 RC1.

Here's the profiles I went with:
Profile Name (Priority)
Main - 400mhz min - 1200MHz max, ondemand
Screen Off (100) 125 - 400, conservative
CPU > 40C (95) 125 - 400, conservative
Temp > 40C (95) 125 - 400, conservative
Battery < 30% (75) 125 - 550, conservative
Battery < 40% (70) 125 - 850, conservative

I'm getting very good performance and at least a day and a half battery life with these settings. I originally had the Screen Off set to 125MHz min and max, but found some background tasks would take too long and the phone wasn't as responsive coming out of sleep in those cases.

As far as I understand them, they go something like this:

Ondemand - Default; scales the CPU as needed between min and max.
Conservative - Scales the CPU between min and max, but is slower to increase clockspeed than the ondemand - potentially better battery life, but perhaps lower responsiveness.
Powersave - Keeps the CPU at min clock.
Performance - Keeps the CPU at max clock.
Userspace - Useless.

i have jdlfg 1GHz kernel. the lowest it goes is 300. from what ive read, every phone is different and you basically have to find one that works well with your phone. i also read that P3 kernels usually give long battery life, while chevy ones have better speed. But with the jdlfg kernel im pretty sure i got a day from it. i tried using battery left widget, but after calibrating it gave some crazy number like 59310:13

im not an expert on setcpu yet, but going off some of others my settings right now are:

Screen off: 300/300 ondemand 100
Temp >51.3: 300/500 ondemand 96
Charging USB/Full: 300/800 ondemand 95
Charging/Full: 300/800 ondemand 81
Charging AC/Full: 300/800 ondemand 80
Battery < 20% 300/500 ondemand 75
Battery < 31% 300/500 ondemand 70
Battery < 40% 300/800 ondemand 66

i might end up trying P3 soon
