[ROM] **CM9 Discussion/Download Thread**

for the last 3 weeks (since around the 0102 build, or maybe first build in January)...i've been having GPS signal issues, specifically in Google Nav. Sometimes it will lock my location before the app opens and other times it can take +2 minutes (more often on the latter than former). I only use GPS when i'm outside usually on the freeway, so it can't be a line of sight issue.

do you have any recommendations?

currently on the Jan 17th build with Franco's 13th nightly kernel. i have no other mods, not even custom radios, installed. Any help? Same goes for mmead1143 up there....I haven't wiped cache or dalvik in probably 4 or 5 builds.

Mind if I chime in here.....

I would imagine running the Franco Kernel might be the key here. Imo changing up the kernel can introduce factors of complexity when building a ROM (or OS for example) can make troubleshooting exacerbating. I am running winner's ROM nothing else and have no issues with GPS syncing. Infact, it's quite fast really.

Again, my opinion.... not questioning the reliability of the Franco kernel or Winner's abilities to troubleshoot.

Good luck either way.

I guess I'm a little confused about the custom kernel game in terms of my GPS issue in Winner's build (maybe Winner can chime in here). Winner had told me that he/she (sorry i don't know) was using Franco's kernel, but i also know that the ROM is not running that kernel (i believe it's tuna or something).

i'll probably update to the 0119 build and leave franco's kernel off for a few days to test.

thanks for the input.

Precisely what I tried (and failed) to get across. Yep tuna is the kernel for winner's rom.

I'm using it with Franco's kernel and I have no GPS issues.

Are you still using a droid ? Or the galaxy nexus. I see the phone in your profile says droid. Typically a wipe and reflash might help in this case. Course then you could go the route of what version of Franco are you using etc etc....

Running 01192012 build.

Don't see where to enable blue soft buttons.

No issues thus far.

I have a Galaxy Nexus now. Just haven't updated my profile yet. I'm not the one having problems though, mine works fine.

Is anyone else having problems with tethering? When I click to tether, it turns on wifi and I get a notification that tethering is activated, but then it immediately turns wifi back off.

What build are you running?

I am running the latest and no problems. Well there are like 2 very minor ones. But I need to do more research before posting.

1/19... I don't use tethering much and don't remember if I tried it for the 1/17 build to know if it was working before...

Do you have your root permission set in developer options? I have apps and adb allowed root access. That could be the reason why your wifi hotspot isn't working. Permissions to attach to the connection (IE needing root)

Yep. Have root. Set to apps and adb. It starts the connection and it appears as available on my laptop but for only a few seconds and then turns off...

Just tested it again. Used encryption and dhcp. All worked well. Perhaps a reflash and data wipe? Do you have any other tethering apps installed? Maybe remove those if they exist.

I had this same problem running stock 4.0.2, and using my Tethering Widget. I found that Set CPU was interfering with tethering, once I got rid of Set CPU everything went back to normal for my tethering widget.
