Coming Soon to a Droid near you!

The flash will be nice. Personally I'm more interested in Landscape support/functionality for the Home screen. I really do not understand why this isn't/wasn't implemented to begin with. The base coding is obviously there (since it functions when the keyboard is open and programs like Home++ can access it) so wtf did Google and/or Moto not activate it for the Home screen.
I'm actually glad they didn't. I have PandaHome and turned that functionality off. It drove me nuts having my home screen flipping all over the place.

I'm assuming thats why they did that.

They can, and should have it supported and allow the user to turn it on/off (just like they do with the program orientation). Personally I use the phone far more in Landscape and am highly annoyed to have to turn the phone over for and then back again (as I don't use the keyboard). To each there own (which, if I'm not mistaken was part of Droid's whole marketing campaign 'fully customizable'... well personally I find it no more, and sometime even less customizable than the WM ROMs I was running).

yeah as long as there is an option to be able to turn it on/off I'm for it. To have it forced on us is another thing : )

I don't understand what there was to be upset about yesterday....Nexus came out.....big deal, it's a droid with a smaller dimmer screen and an inflated CPU count that is in actuality equal to the droid. We already knew 2.1 was coming to droid once it was compatible. And if you have tried going to any flash site on your droid you also would have known flash was coming soon (funny side note, if you switch dolphin to iphone mode and go to flash page it basically says until Apple changes their rules there will never be flash on iPhone...lol)

Google is manufacturing the Nexus. Why would Moto give up on their best phone because their partner/competition released a phone. There will be plenty of OS updates and firmware updates to go around on the Droid. All the kids on here just saw the new toy on the block and figured it was better than the red truck they got for christmas and got all huffy about it!

Droid is right now the best phone on the market, simply because it is an amazing Android phone on verizon.

As for the Nexus....not really that impressed. 4GB memory card bundled....why not just tack on the extra 20 bucks and make it $199 for 16GB? Anyone that has owned the Pearl can tell you how horrible the track ball is for anything. I personally really like the keyboard for console emulation. I don't use it to type, but its the closest to a control pad I'm gonna get on a phone (unless Sony finally releases the PSP Phone!)

No need to worry, the droid will stay a great phone until you are ready to upgrade ;) But I will personally be sticking with Android phones.

Glad to see it is confirmed that this is going to happen.

The way google has answered questions and is not wanting to keep older android phones up to date cause they are not able to code for the newer features is horses__t. Google has enough resources to code for all newer models and existing models without hitting their profits at all.

Now if only we can get confirmation somehow on if Jan 22nd is a release date for 2.1 or is it just another service pack for 2.0.X

I mean I am not complaining I just would love to see a roadmap on when it will be done and when it will be pushed to the devices. Also cant wait to see how the dev community is going to root 2.1 for droid.

there are no more point releases, 2.1 is the next update....well HTC devices might finally make it to 1.6.

Not sure how yesterday wasn't a good day for Moto but no biggie. There are so many good things happening for Droid owners.... almost too much too fast... but I can handle it. :)

I didn't see yesterday as a negative for Droid owners. I saw it as positive as was the news this a.m. that A.T. & T. will be selling Android phones this year. The more phones on the Android OS out there the better as development will be that much more robust. And incidentally, personally I prefer the flat, angular appearance of the Droid to the rounder look of the N1.

As cool as the N1 is, considered it is more Google Branded than ever, i am very very excited for 2.1 Hopefully this is aiming for a "sometime soone" release haha

I want Flash more then ANY OTHER UPDATE!!! lol I realy want to watch Hulu and Crustyroll hehe!!!

GO FLASH!!!!

I don't get why Droid owners would be sad about the Nexus after this news. I prefer a physical keyboard and I don't think the Droid's keyboard is bad (not good either its average). We get 2.1 and Flash and a wonderful phone. If anything this will help Android OS gain more ground and make it better for everyone. :icon_ banana:

New to my Droid. Do I need to check for updates or will it pop up automaticly like the other apps I have downloaded?

FLIPPING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Does this mean Netflix instant queue will work too?! please please please please flash devs make an app for this...

I will play T.A.P.S until the iphone dies!
